FEBRUARY 14TH, 2019. (THURSDAY)

It was Valentine's Day and everyone seemed to be doing the same thing. Being cuddly and spoiling one another with love and affection. It was really nice. And what was even nicer, was that Darry let Ponyboy and Johnny stay home for the day. He trusted them not to do anything and make up any work they would miss.

Both of the teens were cuddled up onto the couch, just simply enjoying each other's company. Johnny had never spent Valentine's Day with someone before so it was really exciting for him. It was good to spend the day of love with someone he knew cared about him unconditionally.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Johnnycake" Ponyboy murmurs softly, for the millionth time that morning, causing Johnny to giggle.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Ponybaby," the older teen teases softly. He enjoyed telling the younger teen that he loved him and cared for him. It was something he always loved. "For the millionth time."

Ponyboy grins widely and looks at his lover, just staring at him with fond eyes. He enjoyed looking at his handsome face. The teen leans up a little and presses their lips together gently. Kissing him was another thing that they both liked. It just felt amazing to kiss.

The older teen moves his hands to Ponyboy's hips, lightly squeezing as he held him close. He didn't have any intention of going further than kissing. Well, maybe. It was just something that he had never thought about because of his body. That was always going to hold him back. At least until he got better.

Johnny pulls away after a few minutes and looks at his lover, returning the loving gaze. He didn't think that he would ever stop returning the gaze. It was just too nice to stare into his green eyes and feel special. To feel like he had succeeded with someone.

"Oh, shoot!" Ponyboy exclaims. "I've got something for you!"

Ponyboy stands up and goes to the kitchen, grabbing a shopping bag off of the counter. He had Soda go out for him the night before and buy some stuff to give to Johnny. He had Soda do it just to make sure Johnny had no suspicions of having anything being bought for him.

The 14-year-old grabs a box of chocolates out of it and a single rose before holding them carefully. He didn't want too much. He knew that Johnny couldn't get anything for him. And he didn't want to have the older teen feel bad. It was Valentine's Day, no one should be feeling bad.

He comes out of the kitchen and sits on the couch next to Johnny, handing him the gifts. The older teen sits up a little and takes them, looking at him. In that moment, he felt like crying. Both out of our happiness, and out of feeling terrible.

"Oh, Ponyboy," Johnny starts softly. "You didn't have to get me anything... Please don't think that you had to do that for me."

"I didn't think that I had to," Ponyboy says. "I wanted to. It's Valentine's Day and I wanted to show you how much that I loved you. You're the best thing to ever happen to me in all this time of knowing you. It's crazy. I just love you so much."

Johnny feels his eyes water a little and he carefully sits his gifts aside, pulling the teen into a hug. He buries his face into the crook of the teen's neck, smiling softly. The teen wanted to show Ponyboy that he loved him too. But he didn't have any money to buy him gifts.

"You know I love you, right?" Johnny questions softly, sniffling as he wiped his eyes on his shoulder. "That I really love you?"

"Of course I know that you love me," Ponyboy says softly. "I love you so much and Im very much confident that you feel the same exact way about me. Why? What's the matter, baby?"

"I just... I just feel so bad because I can't buy you anything," Johnny says. "You buy me things all the time and take care of me but I can't even do that for you. I don't have the money... And I know that you probably expect some sort of physical gift that I can't give you. I feel bad. Because you mean so much to me. I remember when I first started to like you and I was so scared. But I knew, that no matter what, that I was going to love you. Whether you loved me back. And when you told me that you liked me and you kissed me for the first time... I couldn't believe it. And I just wanted to be there to make sure that you felt all the love that you had given me. I love you so much and I want to be able to show it to you just how you show me..."

Ponyboy looks at Johnny with sad eyes, holding him close. He rubs his back gently and presses a few kisses to his forehead. The teen felt bad that Johnny felt that way. He just wanted him to be happy.

"Johnny, I don't expect a physical gift from you," Ponyboy says. "And I never have. I only expect your love and affection. I don't care that you don't have money to spend on me. I don't love you for your money. I love you because of how sweet and kind you are. You're so smart and you can be so funny when you wanna be."

Johnny couldn't help but laugh a little at that.

"And I just want you to know, that no matter what, Im going to love you and be there for you. You're the best boyfriend I could ever ask for.  You're the only boyfriend I could ever need."

"I love you so much, Ponyboy," Johnny murmurs softly, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "So much."

"And I love you too, Johnny," Ponyboy replies softly, giving him a kind smile. "With all of my heart."

And with that, the two boys go back to cuddling on the couch, eating the chocolates that Johnny wanted to share.
