Marcus POV...

We sat across each other, "hurry Marcus pick your poison," the look on her face told me she knew I went back in time to the day everything happened and I changed for the worst.

"How did you know about this, I kept that small detail to myself."

A smile crawled on her face, she finished what was remaining of her tea and placed the mug on the table, "well while she was messing around in my head I took the liberty of doing the same myself it is only fair."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I'll leave that surprised for you," she smirks, "now back to business make your choice."

I stared at the man who sat beside her. His hair was dirty blonde with tight curls he had a slight tan one of his eyes were blue and the next dark brown, he had a strong jawline, "What's his name?"

"Is that relevant?" she asks.

"Yes now tell me, what is his name."

"Christopher, can you be a good boy and fetch my bag."

"Athena."

"Marcus."

"Please come back to me I do not want to kill him, I was grieving, and I never thought I would find my mate, but now, here you are please I know you can hear me, just please come to me."

She rolls her eyes at me, "you lot are pathetic, I am Athena, I have always been here, I have always existed."

I could tell she was getting frustrated, "I am the version she never wants but always needed before she took her first breath of air I existed, I fought for life while she welcomed death," I could tell she was getting angry. She gritted her teeth; her demeanor changed from being dark to emotionless "I will ask you again, "I watched her as she took the bag from him and placed it delicately on her leg, "get the revenge you always wanted, or else you won't get her back make your choice."

I started to think, something wasn't adding up, "if I kill him Viperina will know, and she will come after me, but I'll get you back, but she will want to avenge his death; hence no one benefits if she kills you, which makes no sense unless you're leaving out something?"

A smile crawled on his face, "maybe this is why we're mates maybe you are more than just a pretty face," she held out her hand, and he handed over the knife, "let's make a deal."

I sat up in the seat, "can you at least free me before we talk business?" I ask.

"Of course," with the wave of her hand, I was freed.

"And Micheal?"

"Mmm, irrelevant, now time for business," she looked at him with disgust before looking at me with interest, "I will give you back the version of Athena you know and love and return back to the little black hole I was in you know the one that feels like home."

"What's the catch?"

"Oh yes, how could I forget, that would be if something were to hypothetically happen that I do come out you can't come for her and not to sound cliche she has to be the one to save her from herself."

"I just don't trust you, there's something you're not telling."

She reached into the bag and pulled out something I was too familiar with, "See I knew you were going to say that that's why I brought a little friend as a backup plan just in case you didn't see things my way."

She pulled out the mamba snake, "wake up my little baby," on cue the snake sprung to life and started to snape after her, "oh no no no manners little mamba," the snake listened to her and stopped, "good girl," the snake wrapped around her hand and nestled her hand.

"Athena, what are you doing?"

"This is what you people call leverage. If you don't accept this deal I will ensure that you lose everything within a blink of an eye," She slit the middle of her hand before wiping off the blade, "now let's seal it with blood."

I knew it was a bad idea every bone in my body told me I was going to regret it.

She walked over to me, I stood up I looked down at her, "fine," she slit the middle of my hand and flung the knife down and grabbed onto me with her bloody hand, "this deal is now sealed by blood, with terms and conditions of course and ten percent of your powers, you've just accepted to," I could feel myself getting weaker. I fell to my knees, she placed her lips next to my ears, "I hope it was all worth it," Athena's legs gave out but before she could fall to the ground I grabbed her and pulled her close to me, I grabbed the snake and flung it across the room.

"Hekate!" I yelled a portal opened.

When Hekate looked around, "is she okay?" she asks, looking at Athena's body that laid beneath me.

"She is," I picked her up and pulled her close to me, "now let's go."

"Who's this?"

"He..." I trailed off, "can you make it that Viperina can't find him?" I ask.

"You want me to cloak him?"

"Yes."

"Why?" Hekate asks.

"Viperina will come looking for answers, and she can't find out Athena was responsible for all of this, because she will not stop at nothing until she has Athena's head."

"Okay, I will stay back," she walked over to Micheal, "she poisoned him with a neurotoxin, mmm who would have thought that everything I taught her would come back to bite me in the ass."

"Do you know how to treat him?"

"Of course, after all, I was the witch who found out you guys weaknesses," she looked around the room, "knowing Athena she would leave the cure in plain sight," a smile crawled on her face, "there it is," she went over and picked a flower, "hibiscus," she crushed it in her hand. I watched as it turned into mist and dissolved into his skin and he took another deep breath of air and sprung up.

"What happened?!" Micheal yelled.

"Your ass got kicked by a plant," I joked, "let's go home."

We were about to step through the portal, "do whatever you can to keep Athena's mother away from her until she is awake and I am present, and if you can't stay with her at all times, make sure her wolf is with her."

"But, it's her mother."

"Listen to me, make sure she is protected while she's unconscious, now go, and I'll take care of him from here."

I was confused but nodded my head, looked down at Athena, "hurry up and come back to me."

Athena's POV...

"Where am I?" I ask out loud, I looked around me and realized everything was familiar, and I knew where I was, it resembled the forest that was in Helix.

I rose to my feet, "Hello?" I turned around to see a younger version of myself, "oh it's just you," she grabbed my hand and pulled me, "my name is Joy, I'm the reason why you're happy, but there's someone you need to see."

"Who?" I ask, she looked at me with a smile on her face but her eyes or should I say my eyes spoke for themself, "Joy tells me what it is," I pulled away and waited, she started to fiddle with her fingers, it was the same thing I did when I had a surprise for someone, or when I got myself in trouble.

"We need to go, you don't want to make her mad, besides I'm just here to guide you through the forest," she turned and pointed, I followed where she was pointing off through the forest, at the end of the forest everything was dead.

"How?"

"The how doesn't matter but we are on a time limit, you're gonna wake up soon, and there are things you need to know that only she knows," she giggled before grabbing my hand and pulled me through the forest, and before we knew it, we were at the end of the forest.

She pulled me down to her level and touched my face, "My time with you is up, but my words of wisdom I will leave with you is do not let your happiness depend on something or someone you may lose," in a blink of an eye she was gone and I was left alone.
