1 day before...

Athena POV...

I held her hand and sat right up when the door open and Marcus entered the room. Quickly she pulled her hand away from mine, "Love you're awake," she says, as she changes the tone of her voice to one of worry.

She pulled me in for a hug, "you and I have a lot to talk about with that stunt you just pulled," she pulled away from me and kissed my forehead, "I suppose you two have things to catch up on," she threw me one last glare before smiling and bowing her head to Marcus and walked out the room leaving us.

I tried to talk but I started to cough because of how dry my throat was, he grabbed me a bottle of water. Instead of taking the water, I decided to control water and command it to wrap itself around my hand and absorb the liquid into my skin. Inhaling I allowed it to fill me with energy and looked up at him.

"By the look of your face you've known," he nodded his head.

I touched his hand and allow the electricity to run through my body willingly without putting up a fight, "Some of my memory was taken away from me and Hekate took it on herself to retrieve them," he looked around the room and looked back at me, "Plus I kinda had the opportunity of meeting your evil twin."

"Sorry about that Viperina really did a number on me, hopefully, you won't be seeing that crazy side of me ever again," he released a nervous chuckle, "Is there something you'd like to tell me?"

"Don't you find it a bit ironic that the person who's responsible for eradicating your kind is your mate?" I knew he was trying to avoid the topic but I decided I'll give him this, this one time."Fate keeps making jokes," he started to chuckle before pausing, "but what are we going to do about my father?" Marcus asks, "he always gets what he wants, which will be your head."

"I will handle him," he arched his brow.

"What do you mean?"

"He killed my mother probably even killed my father," Marcus looked down, I climbed on my knee's, "but you've protected my people, you've fought your people for us." I took the water bottle from him and used Viperina's power and watch as the bottle melts and disintegrates into nothing, "and I'm grateful for that, but I have to give Viperina's powers back."

"Why?" Marcus asks, "are you crazy?"

"Why should I keep them?"

"With you I know her powers are in good hands but with her, I never know."

"Was my evil side any better than her if anything she was worst wasn't she?"

"Actually she's very calculated, she predicted every move, even to this point, she knew things that were beyond me, she knew how to place a deal in front your eyes and fool you into thinking that there is no other way and somehow double-cross you, she said somethings that really puzzled me maybe you could put it together she said," he snapped his finger trying to remember.

"May I?"

"Sure," he says. I touched his temple and extracted his memories, and scrolled through them and stopped when they met. I enlarge the scene and allowed it to play.

I watched as she rolled her eyes, "you lot are pathetic, I am Athena, I have always been here, I have always existed, I am the version she never wants but always needed before she took her first breath of air I existed, I fought for life while she welcomed death," I replayed the memory repeatedly, I zoomed into her face and replayed the memory and paused it at a specific scene. She was smirking briefly knowing I was going to see it, before changing her demeanor to a more emotionless one.

"She wanted me to know this," I sat back down and allowed everything to sink in, "she and I were born the same time, but the day when I was supposed to die I wanted to go but she, she wanted this life, but somehow I'm the main personality but she wanted it to be her, not me, this makes no sense, why am I the main personality this makes no sense if anything I should be" my words trailed off.

I placed Marcus' memories back, "I hope she's never the main personality, but I do think that the only way to beat my father is unless she takes over for a while, but I made a deal with her."

"Why would you do that?" I looked away, "you literally made a deal with the devil, that was stupid of you."

"If I didn't I wouldn't have gotten you back."

"I would have found a way, back here" I rose to my feet, but almost lost balance when Marcus grab onto me, my hand made contact with the wall when memories flashed before my eyes.

"I should kill you," I watched as mother looked down at me, "you self centered brat, how dare you pull that stunt," I watched as she grabbed my face and sunk her nails into my skin but she was careful enough not to draw blood,"truly I could put a spell on you, maybe that is what I should do that will definitely keep you in your place," She outstretched her hand and that was when I awoke.

"Hekate, "I said without thinking on cue she walked in.

"Can you please leave us we have some catching up to do?" I asked Marcus he nodded before giving me one last look between her and me and left the room.

"She's the witch, she also took Marcus' memory, she's even made a deal with Zapphire, for my hand in marriage to merge both kingdoms to reign domain over everyone."

"I have dreaded this moment for so long, but yes, now that you know that obviously you are not an Helixian," she was hesitant to continue.

I rose to my feet, "say it," I pressed for her to continue.

"You remember those stories I use to tell you about?"

"What does this have to do with anything we're talking about?"

"Athena just trusts me," she replies.

"You've told me many," I snapped at her.

"It was your favorite story, It was about the fierce warrior kali-" I cut her off.

"She could take anyone down, just with the snap of her finger, she was fierce and a force to be reckoned with she fell in love with a dark handsome man, and she-" she cut me off speeding up the story.

"Until one day she witnessed her one true love being killed by the enemy, she was going to hunt him down to seek revenge but eventually she found out she was pregnant. With the help of her witch best friend she was able to survive and give birth, but soon she and her kind were discovered she found out that the youngest of their kind was sick and was on the verge of death but Kali was faced with the decision of giving up-" that was when it all made sense.

"Her powers to save me and the world," I looked up at Hekate.

"You know your story, I have never hidden it from you, might have turned them into innocent bedtime stories but you know who you are, now say it," Hekate caressed my cheek.

"I," I swallowed hard, "I," she mouthed 'say it' to me, "I am the LAST GIFTED," she nodded her head, "And that woman is not my mother, but she is the enemy and the witch you have been hunting, but I am confused about one thing, how did she end up playing mother to me?"
