You looked out of the window as the snow piled up. You could barely even see the ground anymore.
"You okay?" Your roommate Lauren asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," You frowned.
"You're clearly not fine, what's up," Lauren sat next to you, even though she was supposed to be packing to go see her family.
"There's too much snow and my family lives too far away. I won't be able to spend Christmas with them this year," You sighed.
"Oh," Lauren frowned with you.
"It's okay though, I'll hopefully see them during spring break," You shrugged, trying to stay hopeful.
"I'd say you could come with me but-"
"No, don't worry about it. I know you can't. Have a good time for me, kay?" You asked, turning away from the window.
"Of course. I'll miss you," Lauren smiled.
"Yeah, me too," You gave a soft smile.
+++++++++++
"So how are you planning to spend Christmas?" One of your closest friends, Brian asks you over coffee.
"Oh, uh, don't worry," You laughed.
"What, why?" He cocked his head to the side.
"No, seriously, it's all good," You sipped your coffee.
"I don't believe you, but you'll probably tell me sooner or later, so I'll drop it for now,"
He was right, you told him everything, whether it was in the moment or sometime in the future.
"I'm not going anywhere for Christmas," You shook your head.
"No way, why not?" He grabbed one of your hands apologetically.
"I live too far, and this snow is crazy,"
"I'm sorry, forget I ever brought anything up," Brian shrugged, rubbing your hand with his thumb in sympathy. "Actually, you know what?" He looked up for a second. "You should come with me,"
"What?"
"You need a break, even if it isn't with your own family. You should come see your second family with me," Brain grinned."No, no really It's fine-"
"But they love you Y/N! They'd love to have you there. They never have any company over,""But I-"
"Please?"
"Yeah, fine," You rolled your eyes, but couldn't help but smile."Okay, go back your things, we'll leave this weekend,"
++++++++++++
"You're in a better mood all of a sudden," Lauren smiled as you walked into the dorm room.
"Brian asked me to go with him to see his family since I can't," You grinned back.
"Ooooo Brian," Lauren teased, nudging you.
"Oh shush, we're just friends,""Even just to be friends with Brian is lucky," Lauren scoffed.
She was right. Brian was super popular. Not that it really mattered to him- popularity doesn't mean anything in college. But all of the girls were usually all over Brian, but he would kindly reject them one by one.
"I guess I'm just special," You shrugged."I guess you are," Lauren smirked. "When are you leaving?"
"This weekend," You replied, pulling out a bag.
"Oh! I have to go," Lauren looked at her phone. "Sorry hon, I have to run. I'll miss you! Have a great time with Brian, but like... not too much fun," She gave you a quick hug before grabbing her bag and swiftly leaving the room, so quickly you couldn't even reply.
