"So you were flirting with me," You almost choked.

"Yes- I mean no! I mean, maybe, yeah I guess so. But it wasn't meant to be weird or anything. I'm sorry if anything was awkward. I know we don't know each other much, if not at all. It doesn't have to be like a date or anything, maybe I can bring a friend or two, we can just make you feel welcome or something. I just don't want you to feel alone, or-"

"I'll be there. What's your number," You interrupted, handing him your phone. He grinned in response, typing into your phone.

"I'll see you then," You pushed past, but you couldn't help but smile.

+++++++++++++++

You rummaged through your suitcase for something to wear. You hadn't really expected it to go like this, so you didn't really pack anything for the occasion. You wanted it to be right though; not too casual not too formal, but you had no idea what that meant. It wasn't as if you could call anyone, no one knew you were going on this date, and you rarely liked to make a big deal out of things before they were actually a big deal.

You settled on a pair of comfortable jeans with the same shirt as yesterday, with a fancy jacket. That was normal right? You weren't even sure what the cafe was like since you left it up to Joey. He told you it was a cozy cafe so there was no need to dress up, but then again you had no idea what that meant. He left you the address and the time, and kind of left you to figure the rest out on your own.

You checked the time. You had 40 minutes to get there, and with LA traffic you were going to be late if you didn't leave now. You grabbed your jacket and a bag and left. The drive was painful just like any usual drive in LA. You messaged Joey that you may be late, but he didn't reply throughout the whole car trip. He didn't even read it.

You got to the cafe. It was beautiful, no wonder he chose this place. You peered inside to see if Joey was here already, but there was no sign of him. He still hadn't responded to your message, so you just assumed he was on his way. You spotted a park with a lake just by the cafe. You were drawn to it, and you were bored, so it wouldn't hurt to go over. Plus, you'd still be able to see him from the park if he got there.

You texted Joey again, telling him that you had gotten there, but you couldn't see him. You asked if he was on his way, and then you put your phone away.

You walked over kicking a few small rocks on the ground. As time went by, you started to feel stupid. Why were you here again? Joey didn't seem to be arriving any time soon. At this point he was half an hour late. LA traffic shouldn't be this bad, especially if he had even tried to get here on time. There was still no message, so you tried again. If there was still no message, you were just going to go back to the hotel room.

"Y/N?" A voice called. It was a female voice- definitely not Joey.

"Y/N!" They repeated once they knew for sure it was you.

"Lauren! What are you doing here?" You smiled softly.

"I was just around so I was gonna come here to get some coffee for some of the others. What are you doing here?"

You contemplated telling her the truth. Obviously Joey hadn't told her, unless she forgot.

"I was just looking around I guess," You muttered.

"Oh. You wanna get something to eat? Them and their coffee can wait," She laughed.

"Yeah. Yeah, that would be great actually,"

You thought, yeah, screw it. Joey wasn't showing up. Why would he anyway? He was being a bit of a dick at the theatre, plus he barely knew you, so maybe he was joking anyway.
