"Jedha!"
Shooting upwards, Jedha quickly gasped, squinting at the sudden lighting shift. "What! What, what, what do you want." She croaked.
Laughter erupted as Dain clutched his side. "You should've seen your face!" He roared, mimicking her reaction.
"What the hell are you doing in here?" Dain asked as his laughing seemed to slow. Jedha furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as brought a fist full of hay to her line of sight.
She was still in the barn.
"What." She froze, "Where is she, where is she, where is she."
Dain watched as Jedha rose from her spot in the pen and staggered to her feet, stumbling around the barn. "Wheres who? Who are you talking about J?" He pleaded following her to the back of the barn.
She stopped and slowly turned to him and pointed. Following her finger, his eyes landed on a spot in the hay. A divot looking thing cuddled behind Bertha.
Dain gasped, eyes growing wide as he turned to Jedha. "When?!" He exclaimed rushing to the baby.
"Last night, that's why I was here." Jedha replied. Dain slowly ran his hand along Bertha's side until the baby soon came in sight. Her fur was cloud grey and her eyes an emerald green.
"Naya." Jedha smiled as she approached the three. Dain peered over his shoulder and then back to the baby. "Baby Naya." He mumbled.
The barn grew silent as all eyes were locked on this creation. Something born a couple hours ago, yet had so much going for her already.
"We should get back." Dain mustered as he returned Naya back to her mom.
"Oh.. yeah." Jedha agreed, both turning and walking back into town. "I started to worry when you weren't inside this morning- I thought something had happened to you." Dain explained, his eyebrow knitting together as the sun beat down on the two.
Jedha cocked an eyebrow, "You really think something might've happened to me?"
Dain nodded in response.
"You thought I was taken, my life was in danger, hanging by a thread." She mocked.
Rolling his eyes, he stopped turning towards Jedha. "J, I'm serious, I mean... Remember what happened last week? That kid went missing from the Northern Rim?"
Smile quickly fading, Jedha furrowed her brow, "Dain, why are you becoming so worried all of a sudden? Have I ever been in real danger before?"
"Yes!" Dain shouted, "You go to these... 'meetings' and whenever I even try to get some valid information from you, you change the subject!"
"Dain-"
"No, J. Don't tell me not to worry about you when I'm the only one who worries about you." He spat.
As her lips parted to reply, a voice rang out from behind them, grabbing both of their attention.
"Slaydier!"
Clenching her jaw shut, Jedha forced an approachable look on her face as the two were met by Yunis Pertri, local politician, gambler and ally of the First Order.
"Yunis. What can I do for you." Jedha questioned as she chewed on a piece of straw in between her teeth.
"Been lookin in the market for some Fathiers. Got caught up in the racing gigs down on Canto Bight a couple weeks ago. You got anything I'm looking for."
Glancing from under the brim of her hat, Jedha sneered. "Canto Bight. Heard that place is a breeding ground for pirates."
"I'm sure you would know a lot about them." Yunis snapped, his smile quickly returning. His posture was odd, his feet both turned out while his gut hung low. Beads of sweat piled themselves on the top of his forehead giving him a glimmer in the sun light.
