"Do you think he'll actually do it?"

Turning on her heel, Jedha quickly flared at Dain. "What do you mean?" She asked.

The two stumbled their way into town, stepping over branches and lose twigs. The sun had behind the trees, the bugs were sprawling and the lanterns lit up the small village.

"I mean.. what Yunis said." Dain mumbled, "How he could get us raided."

Scoffing, Jedha glanced behind her as her house quickly came into view, "He was bullshitting. Bluffing. Lying. Yunis doesn't have the mental capacity to fly his own ship, stupid motherfucker has someone do it for him."

Dain nodded, following behind her closely. The town was lively and awake. Villagers coming out of their houses with their families dancing and eating.

The two approached the edge of the town, standing outside of Dain's hut, admiring the lights strung around the town, illuminating the night.

"You were pretty fast to keep Naya." Dain spoke, "I wouldn't think you were capable something like that."

Jedha glanced to the villagers and then Dain, "I'm always capable of doing something like that. Especially when a kiss ass like Yunis disrespects me."

The two grew quiet as the dried grass and leaves crunches beneath them with every step. Slowly coming into town, civilians flowed through the town and music filled the air.

"Is it tonight??" Jedha snapped her eyes to Dain. Dain nodded cocking an eyebrow in surprise, "Yeah, you just forgot?"

She grew silent as she glanced back to the town, "Wasn't the ceremony supposed to be for another month or two?"

Dain furrowed his brows shaking his head, "No but aren't you excited?"

Jedha forced a smile, clutching her tunic in her fist. Dain smiled back as he continued into town joining with his mom.

Jedha did the same, making her way to her house but before she could make it inside, a voice called out to her.

"Where are you going?" Dain shouted over the music motioning to her.

Obliging, Jedha made her way to Dain along with his mom who sat in a rocking chair outside their hut.

"Jedha, so nice to see you." His mom smiled.

Smiling back, Jedha rest her hand on top of hers, "Hi Mai."

Her eyes wandered from stranger to stranger, faces coming in and out of vision. The wind chimes trickled in the air as distant chatter could be heard in the distance.

Her mind slowly became at ease as she smiled at the village children dancing in the square. She remembered being one of them at one point in her life. Something she would look forward to almost every year.

"I heard Bertha gave birth, how is the baby." Mai asked from her rocking chair.

"She's good, no complications or anything. She's already walking which was faster than expected but she's well." Jedha mentioned as she turned towards Mai next to her.

"What's the baby's name again honey." Mai asked turning to Dain next to her.

"Naya." Dain responded a smile spreading along his face as he glanced to Jedha.

Jedha nodded turning her head back to the string lights above. The light above casting a golden glow on her face.

Her mind seemed to wander, thinking back to the day Dain's dad had died. A day that would've been her sixteenth birthday but instead was ambushed.
