The three dogs stood outside the entrance of the house in awe as they gazed at the building. Digby was right, the house was huge. Was this the mayor's place? K.K. thought to himself. He looked back at Digby and watched him lock his car. He was glad that Digby decided to drive here, as he stood outside he could feel the cold wind hit his fur sending chills down his spine. It was freezing, and he could tell that it was only going to get colder. Totakeke pulled out his phone from his pocket to check the time. 8:47 it read. K.K. knew that the party started at nine. But despite it being early they could hear the sounds of cheer and music coming from inside the house.
"Well, we might as well head inside," Digby said as he turned the knob to open the door. The three dogs walked in the house and were instantly hit with strobe lights and loud music. K.K. felt his stomach turn as he looked around the house. Some animals seemed very shock to see that he was here.
"Aww, nice!" One animal shouted from behind, "Looks like we got D.J. K.K. up in here!" Some of the animals laughed while others started to cheer. Totakeke gave the animals an uncertain smile and shook his head.
"Uh, sorry guys. I'm not the D.J., I'm just here to hang out." K.K. laughed nervously. Some of the animals seemed a bit disappointed but they shrugged and brushed it off. Isabelle looked at Totakeke and grabbed his paw.
"Are you okay? We can leave if you want. I feel a bit unsure about this too." Isabelle said with concern in her eyes. K.K. smiled at her and gave her paw a squeeze.
"I'm fine Isabelle, really. If it ends up being too much we'll just leave." Isabelle didn't really believe him. But she took his word for it and just gave him a curt nod.
"Hey, Digby! Hey Isabelle! Annnd....K.K. Slider?" Someone asked from behind. K.K. turned around and saw a young pink otter with brown hair. She smiled at him.
"Hey, Lottie!" Said, Digby as he went over to give her a hug. 'So this was Lottie.' K.K. thought to himself.
"K.K. this is my good friend Lottie. We both work at Nooks Homes." K.K. smiled and shook her hand.
"It's nice to meet you, Lottie. Digby's told me a lot about you." K.K. said. Lottie seemed surprised at that and started to blush.
"Oh-oh really? That's good to hear. He's told me a lot about you too. I didn't really believe him though when he said you guys were old friends heh." Lottie said. Digby looked over at Totakeke annoyed but didn't say anything.
"So why don't you guys head over to the kitchen?" Lottie asked, "There's a girl in there who has made many delicious desserts. We should go try them!" The three dogs agreed and started heading over to the kitchen but were soon stopped when a grey wolf came up to talk.
"Hey, Isabelle! I didn't think you'd come. I'm glad you're here!" The wolf said. Isabelle smiled nervously at him and looked at the floor.
"Oh, hey Josh," Isabelle said quietly. K.K. could tell that she was uncomfortable. 'Who was this guy?' He thought to himself. "Umm K.K. this is Josh. He moved to Animal Village not that long ago. And I'm pretty sure this is his place." K.K. gave Josh a stern look and shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Josh," K.K. said. Josh only nodded and gave a slight hum in response before completely disacknowledging K.K.
"Anyway, do you mind coming upstairs to help grab some things, Isabelle? There are some things up there that I think will really make this party even better." Josh said. Isabelle bit her lip not sure if she should. She didn't really trust Josh. Ever since she first met him she always felt as though something was off about him. Isabelle let out a sigh. She was the mayor's assistant after all. It was her job to help the townsfolks in any way she could.
