Chapter 4

Edward P.O.V

Class have been so boring since they started two months ago and also harder. Now that we are advanced students in medicine they are taking us the hospital and teaching us there.

I sigh, tired, and sleepy when I get to the apartment. I take my white robe off and place it on the couch. Emmett and Jasper were sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching the foot ball game.

"What's up?" Emmett said without looking at me.

"I'm tired," I let myself fall on the couch next to Jasper. He hands me an open beer.

"Bella called," he said. "She said she needs to talk to you, it's important."

"Give me the phone," I reach out for the phone. Emmett gives it to me and continues to watch the game.

I dial Bella's number. She answers at the third ring.

"Hello."

"Hey, sweety." Take a sip of my beer. "What happened?"

"Something has to happen for me to talk to my boyfriend?" She laughed, though I noticed it was a fake laugh. Then she sighed. "We need to talk."

"I'm here."

"Promise me that 1) you will try no to freak out and 2) will not take the first plant back."

"Bella, what the hell happened?" I sit up. Jasper and Emmett looked at me confused.

"Just... Promise."

What the hell? Something is wrong and I know it, I will not promise. I cross my fingers and say 'I promise.' She sighs again and finally says:

"You'regonnabeadadd."

I frown, what did she say?

"Say that again. Slower this time."

"Edward... I'm two months pregnant."

Suddenly, everything around me zooms out and I'm just sitting there, with the phone on my ear, with blank expression.

She's pregnant. Bella is pregnant! Oh, my God! I'm gonna be a dad! She's pregnant!

"I'll be in Forks by the morning," I say.

"What?!" Jasper and Emmett say.

"No! Edward, you can't!" She shouts on the phone. "You promised."

"Bella, I crossed my fingers, that promise doesn't count. I'll probably be there in the morning or the afternoon, depends at what time-"

"Please, don't come," she begs.

"How can you ask me that when you're miles away with my baby inside you!" I snap.

"Wow, there!" They stand up.

"Edward, just... Finish college. I'll be here with our baby, we'll be waiting for you."

"No, Bella-"

"You'll come in a few weeks, you'll see me and get to feel the baby... By the time we go over to Chicago for you graduation the baby will be here already."

"Bella, no... I don't know." I run my hand through my hair and sigh. "I want to be there... This is not a way that I would imagine our first baby would..."

"Me neither, Edward," she says. "I feel like it's too soon and Charlie, he went all crazy..."

"I'll stay here in only one condition," I whisper.

"What?"

"Carlisle will be your doctor, he'll deliver the baby. Also, we'll Skype in every doctor's appointment no matter what time is it."

"That sounds like two conditions," she replies.

"Do you accept or not?" I answered.

"Alright." She sighs. "I got to go, Charlie only let me call you to tell you, I'm grounded."

"You're twenty-two," I say.

"Tell that to Charlie."

I shake my head and sigh. How can Charlie ground Bella if she's twenty-two? That's just stupid, I hope he gets over it once the baby is born.

The baby is born... Even saying it makes me get shivers. I can't believe she's pregnant and I'm here, miles away from her and the baby just to finish collage like I promised

"Did you get Bella pregnant?" Jasper asked.

I nod.

"Damn," Emmett says. "How did she take it?"

"She's scared. Wait, let me call Carlisle." I dial my dad's number and call him. He answered at the third ring.

"Dr. Cullen."

"Dad, is me Edward."

"Congratulations, son. I didn't think you would make me a grandfather so young."

I chuckle, "Me neither. I called you to ask you a favor."

"Anything."

"Have me up to date with everything that's going on during her pregnancy. I don't care how small the news is, just tell me. And also I was wondering if you could be the doctor who delivers my baby."

"Of course," he says. "Don't worry about her, okay? Esme, Alice, Rosalie, Renee and I are going to take good care of her."

"Thank you."

"Are you excited?" He asked.

"A little scared, concerned and happy. All at the same time."

"That was me when Esme told me she was pregnant with Emmett," he laughed. "Don't worry, Son, once you hold that baby in your arms everything is going to be worth it."

I smile and sit down on the couch. Bella's condition now worries me more and even the baby. Can he...? "Can I ask you something?"

"Yes."

"Is there any possibility that the baby could be born... Blind?"

He takes a deep breath before answering. "I honestly don't think it could be possible. Her condition doesn't run through her genes, Edward." He explained. "The possibility is really minimum. But is her condition that worries Bella."

How couldn't it worry her? I know that she's scared because of her condition, but I'm sure that with her mom and my family around is going to be a great help. We can't count on Charlie, he changed over the years. I'm not even sure if I want him around the baby, of course I don't.

"I have a patient in a few minutes, I have to go, Son. Her first ultrasound will be next week, I'll call you."

"I agreed with Bella that we would Skype in every ultrasound."

"Alright, we will talk later then."

I hang up. I let out a sigh and finish my beer. I take another one and watch the game with Emmett and Jasper.

"Well," Emmett says when the commercial come on, "we should make a toast." We stand up and take out beers. "To Edward and Bella, I hope your baby is born healthy and that you three have an amazing life together. And also, to that one day when Bella will be able to see again."

We toast and drink our beers to the last drop.

Jasper says, "I better be the godfather."

"What are you talking about?" Emmett says, "I'm gonna be the godfather."

I laugh and take another beer. "I have nine months to decided weather one of you two or a dog would be a better godfather."

We all let out a laugh and continue to watch the game.
