Jacob P.O.V
"What the hell is this?!" Smith storms in the conference room where I'm giving orders to my group. Edward comes in right behind him.
Smith throws a newspaper on the desk, the headline reads Chief Swan Kidnaps His Grandson. I take the paper and throw it on the desk.
"Who did it?" I growled.
"That's what I want to know," Edward hissed. "This investigation is on every news on TV. If Tanya finds out my son is in danger!"
"We're doing everything we can," I growled.
"Not enough," he snapped. "My son is still missing. My fiancee is now doubting the possibility of finding, blaming herself!"
"I promised her I would find him!"
"I don't need you to make promises to my fiancee, I want results. There's no evidence here of where could my son be!"
Edward P.O.V
Jacob shakes his head and sighed. "No one has seen Tanya, it's been so long we don't know where else to look. But, I'm not giving up."
"Maybe it's time to call off the investigation," Sam said.
"What?!" I snap.
"It's been way too long, your son could be anywhere in the West Coast of the United States," Sam snapped.
"No, we're not calling off the investigation!" Jacob snapped. "We will not stop until we find that baby."
I shake my head. "Just, please," I say, "help me find my son."
And I walk out. I don't know what else to do, I don't know where to look. My son is simply gone, Bella is losing hope that we will find him. We can't give up, just like Jacob said.
On my way home, I pass by the church. I don't know why, but I stopped the car and stared at the church. The doors were open, only a few people were walking in with their eyes closed. I've never been much of a believer in this sort of stuff, I always wondered that if someone prayed, will someone or something be there to listen? Or, it's all of this religious beliefs just another fairytale?
The first thing I noticed when I walked in were the images of Jesus Christ and other on the walls, sculptures, and even the ceiling. It's cold in here, makes me feel the chills. There are rows of large seats all the way to the end, facing the sculpture of Jesus Christ on the cross and a few feet away the sculpture of The Virgin Mary. There are a few women, a few men on their knees in their seats, hands together, head down, mumbling prayers.
I take a seat in the front row and stare at Jesus. "Alright," I said, "I can't believe I'm doing this, talking by myself in a church, but I... I really don't know what else to do. My son is missing, Jesus, he's gone. We've been searching for days and they are no clues of where he could be... People say that you love us all equally but, if you did, why did you let this happen? Why? Why did you let them take him? I don't want nothing else, I just wanna know why?" I sob, looking at my fingers. "I know, I haven't come here the way it's supposed to be but... Please, I'm begging you, give me a sign, whatever, but just a clue if where could my son could be. I'm not asking this for me, not only for me but for Bella. She's losing hope, every day that goes by she loses hope that her son will come back. So, don't do this for me, do it for her. End her pain."
Nothing, nothing happened.
"I don't even know what I'm doing here," I said, "people say miracles happen, but, do they? I'm not asking for anything, but that I want my son back. That's all I want, that's all I'm begging you for."
I lay my head down in between my hands and say one prayer.
Bella P.O.V
"Hello?" I hear a low voice behind me.
"Who is this?" I grab my stick and stand up. My foot accidentally hits the coffee table making me groan..
"It's Jacob. Are you okay?" He helps me sit down. I nod and rub my foot, it hurts like hell.
"What happened?" I asked, rubbing my foot.
"There's been a call from Reno, Nevada. A women claims to see Tanya around her neighborhood with a baby," he said. I immediately take his hand.
"Do you... Do you think it's her?" I ask, my voice cracks.
"Possibly," he said, holding my hand back. I jump on him and hug him.
"Thank you," I sob, "God, thank you for looking for my son."
"Anything for you, Bella." He rubbed my back. It felt uncomfortable, so I pulled away and give him a shy smile. "There's something I want to tell you," he said.
"What?" I asked.
"It's something I want to share with you," he takes my hand. "I made you a promise and I will keep it, but I think you need to know my story first."
I frowned at him, know his story? What is he hiding? Suddenly, something tells me that I probably don't want to know what he wants to tell me. Should I stop him from telling me?
"When you asked me that if I ever lost any children... I lied," he said. "I was married, had a beautiful wife, her name was Rebecca and... Not to scare you or anything, but, you look exactly like her. Chocolate deep eyes and brown hair. We had a daughter, her name was Marlin, we were happy together until two years ago."
"What happened?"
"I came home one night... And they both were murdered by my psychotic ex girlfriend. She wanted me and killed them. She's in jail now."
My breath gets caught in my throat. His family was murdered by a psychotic ex girlfriend and now he's alone. I look like his dead wife, it's that why he's helping me find my son? Because, he knows how it feels to loose his son because of a crazy ex. He knows how it feels.
"I'm really sorry," I said, raising my hand and finding his face. I frown, his expression feels sad. I take both hands and touch his face. "Sad... Thin lips... Small cheek bone... Eyelashes... and short hair."
"That's how you see people?" He chuckled.
I nod, taking my hands away. "I'm really sorry about Rebecca and Marlin. They were really lucky to have you."
"And, Edward is really lucky to have you, Bella." He touched my cheek.
"I am," Edward's voice sounds right behind us. His voice sounded sort of mad.
"Edward," I smiled, standing up. I have a feeling that Jacob did, too. I walk around the couch, carefully until his arms wrap around me and kisses me. "Where have you been?"
"Went for a walk," he said, still sounding mad. "What happened, detective Black?"
"We got a lead in Reno, Nevada. I'm heading there to take a look where people claim to see Tanya. I wanted to know if you two wanted to come?"
"Yes, we'll be there tomorrow morning."
"Alright," Jacob said. "Till tomorrow. Good night, Bella."
I smiled. "Good night, Jake."
