Chapter 3

I waited outside for my mom to pick me up.
Stella and Luna have a dorm together. I just live with my mom because I don't feel the need to have my own place.
As I saw my mom pull up, I said by to Jake and Matt and left.
" Hey honey, why the face?" She asked looking at my scowl.
" Luke has to come over to tutor me today." I said looking out the window
" Luke? Is that the kid that literally knows everything and always gets into principal honors and all that?" She asked
" yeah, that's the one." I said sighing.
" Oh well that's great! He can help you improve your math grade!" She said excitedly
" No mom. it's not great. Me and Luke aren't friends. We won't ever be. Him coming over is only gonna distract me from actually working." I said getting frustrated
" Yeah. He's gonna distract you because of how cute he is." She said smirking
" Mom!" I yelled
" Okay okay sorry" she apologized laughing
I groaned and sunk in my seat.
When we got to my house, it was 3:43 so I figured I could start some homework.
I started doing my science, which I'm doing great in, I have a 98. ( A).
I've always been good at science.
I actually find it interesting. It's one of the only classed I like.
I just kept on working and working until I heard a loud knock on the door.
I looked at the time and saw that it was 5:01.
I scoffed and ran down the stairs.
I opened the door to Luke, and just left it open for him to come in and went back upstairs.
" Hello! You must be Luke!" I heard my mom say before I shut the door.
I put on some ear plugs and played The 1975 album.
I was singing "Girls" quietly when my door opened.
I took off my ear plugs and put my feet on the desk.
" What" I said
" Let's get stared." He said sitting down next to me.
I scooted over and crosses my arms over my chest.
" Em, cmon. If I'm gonna tutor you for the rest of the year then we have to at least be friends!" Luke protested. I put my feet down.
" First of all, don't call me Em. Second, there's no way your gonna tutor me all year. And finally, we won't be friends. Ever." I stated simply but harshly.
He scoffed but ignored me.
" Well let's start." He said
He started showing me how to do this and that but really I wasn't listening at all.
" Now, I'm gonna give you a problem and you solve it." He said looking into my eyes.
I liked his eyes. I have to admit. Their a beautiful shade of blue.
" yeah whatever." I said looking at the problem he gave me.
What. Is. This.
" you um, you take the 5 and, umm you-"
" are you for real?" Luke asked frustrated
I laughed and looked down.
I heard him laugh too. It was cute, kinda like a giggle.
I looked up, but put my scowl back on before I did.
" Just teach me again or something." I said
" yeah okay sure." He said looking back down at the math book.
" you see, if you add these two, you'll get-blah blah blah" Luke said. I didn't listen after the you'll get part.
" Do you underhand now?" He said after about 10 minutes of me not listening.
" Oh yeah. Of course. "
" okay, here, do this. " he said giving me a problem.
I cursed under my breath.
" Oh my god. This is gonna be a long year." Luke muttered.
