Operation: Phantom Shock

Decisive strikes

We unloaded from the blackhawk and watched it take off before I turned to Metal "Take Valkyrie with you, she's a SEAL and she's good in tight spaces" Sandman turned "you sure? You guys are going to have a tough job" I nodded "keep her safe" he extending his hand to which I shook it "give 'em hell" I smiled "don't get cold feet, see you on the other side" he nodded as they moved to get their dive gear and start their mission, Valkyrie in tow. I turned to the remaining 4 operators as an understanding ran through us and we moved to our rally point, I was in the rear of the column with Twitch as I spoke in hushed tones "Emma you okay?" She nodded "oui(yes), why?" I replied "you looked pretty scared on the chopper" she looked down for a second before replying "I thought we were going to die, the war just started and I thought I was going to die" I spoke with some tenderness in my voice "Emma, I know, I was scared too. If you're really that uncomfortable with this I can send you back to the Yukon and Harry can redeploy you somewhere the fighting is less violent" she looked at me "non, je vais rester. on a dit qu'on finirait ça ensemble(no, I'll stay. We said we'd finish this together)" I smiled as I rested my hand on her shoulder "en effet nous l'avons fait(indeed we did)" as we fell back into silence until we reached the rally point and I radioed "Gator 3-2, this is rainbow 1-1. We're in position, no contact, how copy?" I heard back "rainbow 1-1, Good copy, eta 20 seconds" I turned and lifted 2 fingers on my left hand and made my right hand a fist "20 seconds" everyone nodded as we got prepped until we heard the low rumble of the SWCC(pronounced swick) boats.

I stood and turned as we saw the 2 heavily armored boats come around the corner before one came it and touched the bank "everyone get on" we all jumped on as I looked around "who's the CO here?" The man at the helm raised his hand as I made my way to him "I'm voodoo, rainbow 1-1." He shook my hand "Monarch, gator 3-2" I asked "any objectives we need to do before Metal and the SEALs assault the command vessel?" He spoke "we've got to wait, we can't combat their fleet in these boats" I nodded "how about extra ammo? We're running low after the last mission" he motioned to a box at the back of the boat "there, 5.56, 9mm pretty much anything" I smiled "Rainbow restock and sit tight" I moved to the back and carefully placed round after round into my empty magazines. Once I finished restocking, I stood next to monarch as the team talked with the boats crew, "what's it like being on the SWCC teams?" He looked over "exhilarating but a lot of hard work, we're pretty easy targets so we're always training" I sighed "Yeah, Six has us training damn near constantly. We get a day off then it's missions, training or sim matches" monarch looked over for a second "you sound like you hate it" I replied "no, I like being there I just wish the missions slowed down for a bit." He nodded "we've been working almost 24/7 since they launched the invasion" I replied tiredly "Us too, we got here at 5 and haven't had a break since. Hell we barely got a break as we got in" he chuckled "yeah, Russia has a weird way of keeping us busy" I nodded as I stared at the skyline, all the destroyed and burning skyscrapers "how many people got out?" He sighed "not enough, when the tunnel flooded it was full of people" I mused "I wonder how the worlds gonna come back from this" I heard monarch "i don't think anyone can answer that question" I nodded as I sat down leaning against the hard backboard of the boat as we stayed close to the shore waiting for the sub to get surfaced. I watched as F-22s and F-18s streamed overhead dropping missiles and Jdams on targets in the city for 8 minutes before Sandman radioed "Voodoo, prepping to exfil now." I stood and spoke "Monarch, we're up" he nodded as the boat roared to life and rainbow stood "Everyone make ready, if there is a boat near Metal and the SEALs hit it!" They did their pre fight rituals as I watched missiles launch from the sub as we roared through the Russian fleet peppering the rails with the turrets as we passed. Gator 3-3 filed in behind us as Sandman, Valkyrie and Frost slid down the side of the sub and into their zodiac, the two zodiacs punched it as Russian Gunboats tried getting close to them until we appeared next to them and the mini guns roared to life ripping them apart, i shouldered my M4 and fired at the second gunboat pegging one of the rear gunners before a Mk19 impacted the side punching a huge hole in hull as it spun wildly. I grabbed onto the small tower in the middle as the boat jumped over a small tidal wave from the missiles impacting the fleet, "Jesus, those things pack a punch" I hear Twitch "quoi?!(what?!)" I yelled back "nothing!" As an Su-27 and F-22 tore past overhead as a missile impacted the engines of the Su-27 causing it to erupt in an explosion and debris splashed into the harbor as the F-22 pitched up and away. We ducked and weaved around exploding destroyers and Cruisers as another gunboat moved to engage us until Gator 3-3 started engaging, one of the destroyers fires a single shell at us before detonating as a missile impacted the bow, the shell missed us but impacted 3-3 and the Russian gunboat. Both disappeared into nothing I watched in horror as I saw the boat and soldiers disintegrate before I refocused on the objective and looked forwards spotting Sandman, Valkyrie and Frost getting pushed up the flight deck of a half submerged Aircraft carrier by a gunboat as they all fired until someone got a lucky hit on one of the depth charges and the rear half exploded before splitting away from the rest of the boat as Frost's zodiac slid back down into the water. The last gunboat must've noticed that we were shooting at it since the driver steered it away as we flew passed and headed towards exfil, I turned and watched the Russian fleet getting decimated by their own weapons. We continued to weave through destroyed ships and jump as a result of small tidal waves until we passed an escort destroyer that had the bow blown off, causing me to mutter to myself "Jesus" as I hear monarch "Brace!" I spun just in time to see that we were going under a destroyed bridge and heading toward a slab of concrete that acted as a ramp, I had no time to brace as I lifted up before slamming down onto the hard base of the boat. I groaned as we veered off to the right as a chinook lifted off with Valkyrie, Sandman, Frost, Grinch and Truck, we were dropped off on the shore as a Blackhawk landed to pick us up, we climbed in as I held my arm which hurt like a motherfucker, Emma noticed "Weaver what happened?" I replied "I couldn't brace in time, I landed on my arm and it hurts like hell" she checked it "Gustave's given me some medical training, it's just gonna bruise" I nodded "thank you Doc Emma" she smiled slightly as we looked at the destroyed city. We landed at Bennett Field 20 minutes later where we headed to the barracks Deltas operating out of. When we arrived I saw Metal and Valkyrie waiting, "fun mission?" They nodded as sandman replied "easy day, what about you guys?" I rubbed my arm "it was fun, I got to watch dogfights and Airstrikes along with the Russian fleet get decimated so good job" Emma replied "I got to shoot a mk19 so that was cool" Jäger and Kapkan spoke "they gave us Miniguns" Frost sighed "you guys got the good job, unfair" I laughed before asking "what's our next move?" Sandman tossed me a tablet as Overlord sent out a nationwide sitrep without the fleet to provide air support and the loss of New York the Russians are beginning to prepare to retreat. I sighed "Price isn't gonna be happy to hear about that, when do we leave?" Truck spoke "Command is giving us a month to clear out the last pockets of Russian resistance before we ship over to France to work with the GIGN to try to keep the Russians out." I looked at Twitch "you should warn your parents to get out" she nodded before turning to walk off "I'll let them know" I looked at Sandman as Maverick asked "Any chance we can get there before a month?" He shook his head as Frost spoke "the Russians are surging through Europe but Command wants to make sure we can safely transport things to Europe when we move to assist" I sighed "alright, I suppose we should get to work" we were about to go and start planning when Harry called I answered "Yessir?" He spoke with urgency "the masks are using the chaos to take control of the DC national guard armory, take your team and any available delta units to ensure they do not hold it" I jotted down some notes "Affirm, give us 2 days to get down there and we'll take it back" he replied sounding curious "2 days? Why that long?" I sighed before replying "CentCom wants us to help clear out Russian resistance before we move to assist with repelling Russian advances across Europe" Harry was quiet for a minute "what do you need?" I was caught off guard "Sir?" He asked again "what do you need? What do I have to get for you to keep everyone alive?" I thought it over "Um... we could use more food, updates on situations, Jäger needs another helicopter, preferably stealth" I could hear the keys being pressed on the keyboard before he replied "I'll get it to you as soon as I can" I smiled before replying "thank you sir" he replied "no problem, get a move on voodoo" I chuckled "yessir" I hung up "Rainbow We've got a mission, Metal you can tag along if you want" everyone gathered around the table as I spoke "that masks are making their move, atleast one group has taken over the DC national guard armory while we were busy with the Russians. Six wants us to go down there and to retake the armory while clearing out any Russian resistance we find" twitch asked "when does he want this done by?" I replied "2 days time" Sandman asked "where do we fit in?" I looked over "We are securing the base, you lot are clearing the armory" he nodded as Frost asked "how much support are we going to have?" I spoke "We're solo until the conventional military secures the seaboard" he sighed as Kapkan spoke "What's so important about this armory?" I heard Maverick "it's in DC, the president is leading from the Presidential bunker, 20 minutes or so away. We let them keep that and the president is constantly under threat of the masks attacking the White House" he nodded "Ладно(okay), I got it" I looked around "any more questions?" When no one said anything I spoke "gear up and let's get some humvees together" Jäger and Truck walked out to go and gather some humvees while we all got our guns and replaced our sapi plates. I sat down and started loading rounds into the spent mags when I felt someone sit next to me, I looked over and saw Emma without her balaclava "Looking good" she froze before a small smile played across her lips "merci(thanks), you look pretty good yourself, a bit worried but" I sighed as I stopped trying to hide it "We have to go down a heavily contested coast in lightly armored humvees to assault an armory, I do not see any situation where we get out of this without casualties" she spoke in a calm tone "Hey, take a couple deep breaths. We're some of the best operators the world has to offer, we can make it" I nodded slowly "how'd the call with your parents go?" She spoke "they're packing now and heading to Britain" I replied by asking "can you get them to go to the base? Harry would allow them to stay" she shrugged "I'll try after the mission, I don't want to get too much on my mind" I bumped her shoulder with mine "you did good today, I knew you would" she nodded "we train together all the time, it's helped me break through my limits" I replied with a small smile "good I'm glad it's helping" I heard Jäger "We've got 3 humvees but only one has a gun" I sighed "better than nothing, make sure your gears working" they nodded as Twitch stood "I suppose I should get my balaclava" I suggested "why don't you go and get one of Metal's extra helmets?" She thought it over "oui, i might just do that" I watched her walk away until I went back to loading my mags. Frost sat next to me "you care about her a lot, don't you?" I glanced over "yea, she's pretty special to me" he asked "don't you worry about her on missions?" I nodded as I replied "of course I do, but I also trust in her abilities" he spoke "Are you gonna tell her?" I shrugged as I looked at a C-17 taking off "maybe, maybe after this is over" he pointed out "and if you don't make it?" I looked over "then I'll have died with one more secret to add to the list" he sighed "I was afraid you'd say that, you know we'll be famous for today, right?" I asked "how do you figure?" He leaned back on his arms "oh come on, we took out a jammer that was blocking our capabilities to defend the east coast and then we took out the Russian command vessel and their fleet forcing them to start retreating, it's way bigger than the bin laden story" I nodded slowly "and to think it's just the first day" he chuckled "by the end of this war Team Metal will be known by every American. I can't help but be a little excited" I spoke, thinking out loud "sounds like you joined for the fame" he was about to reply when our radios barked to life "All units, this is wolverine 2-1, we are in need of immediate support at Central Park! Russian Paratroopers landing on our position, they're counter attacking, how copy?!" I grabbed the radio "Roger, Wolverine 2-1 this is Rainbow 1-1, Rainbow copies all. Can you hold for 30 minutes?" He yelled back "Maybe, can you make it in 20?!" I sighed before replying "we can try, keep me updated" I hopped off the box and yelled "Rainbow! On me, we are moving!" They ran over with their gear as I headed out to the humvees I climbed in as Erik got in the drivers seat, Emma and Maxim got in the backseat as Jäger got on the .50 "Central park, gun it we have troops in contact" Erik nodded and pulled out quickly I turned "we're going to relieve Wolverine 2-1, Russian paratroopers are landing in Central Park and there in heavy contact. We've got 20 minutes to make it to them" they nodded as we got on the road "Maverick do not stop, keep it fast we need to get there ASAP" he spoke "Rog' staff, I'll get us there" I radioed "Overlord this is 1-1, we're Oscar mike to Wolverine 2-1 in Central Park, heavy contact with Russian paratroopers how copy?" It took a couple seconds before Overlord came over the radio "1-1, overlord copies. We'll track your progress, overlord out" It fell quiet as we tore down the destroyed streets of manhattan until I point left "turn left up here, it'll shave off 2 minutes" Maverick nodded as Twitch asked "How do you know that? You're from Alaska" I looked back "After the invasion of DC, command got uncomfortable and we started doing trainings in important cities around the country. New York was the main one since it's our economic center, you could put us in any part of the city and we'd be able to give you the fastest path to a target" she nodded "smart" as I turned around and saw the tracers being traded until a round streamed through the windshield and impacted Erik as he coughed and the humvee came to a halt. I got out yelling "Jäger fuck them up!" As I ran around the humvee and pulled Erik out of the drivers seat and into cover as I pulled off his plate carrier and cut away his shirt, prepping my medical equipment until I saw the wounds location "fuck...." he had taken one to the heart "KIA!" As I stood and looked at the park before I brought him to the humvee and placed him in the back before I ran to the drivers seat "everyone load up" when twitch and Kapkan got back in the humvee I pressed on the gas pedal and tore towards Wolverines position. I slammed on the breaks when we got behind the line and got out, Jäger turned the turret towards the line before squeezing the trigger again hitting the Russians with a whole lot of hatred as .50 caliber rounds streamed through anyone who dared peak out of cover. We disembarked and ran to the cover as I yelled "who's Wolverine 2-1?!" I saw a man raise his hand "I am!" Twitch, Kapkan and I moved to his cover "where do you need us?" He looked at the three of us "where's our reinforcements?" I replied "we're it, if you're going to bitch I can leave and let you all die" he narrowed his eyes "you wouldn't" I glared at him "test me" he sighed "what unit are you?" I replied "Delta" he choked on his spit "Delta?!" I nodded "Where do you need us so we can do our job?" He spoke "South flank, Wolverine 2-5 in down there and she's reported heavy fire keeping them down" I nodded "Kapkan stay with Jäger give him ammo boxes when he's out" he spoke "I'll keep him firing" I turned to Twitch "Let's go" she nodded as we ran to the south flank and saw some soldiers laying in makeshift trenches under Russian troops as Tracers streamed overhead. I radioed "Jäger rotate the turret 27 degrees left, hit those Russians" I heard a quick "Ja kommandant" as tracers streamed into the Russian line and the Russian fire stopped. Twitch and I dropped into the trench "Wolverine 2-5, where are you?" She raised her hand as we moved over to her and pulled the paratrooper off of her "You good?" She nodded tiredly "they just never stopped pushing us" I looked up and down the trench "How many of you are up?" She spoke "last I saw 3, the rest are dead" I yelled "Who's up?" I saw a couple hands raise as Twitch and I pulled the Russian corpses off of them and propped them up again the wall. "We're gonna get you through this but I need everyone to listen to me, alright?" They nodded as one asked "who are you?" I looked over "Voodoo, Delta force" they gained some life in their eyes as I motioned to twitch "and shes Twitch, Delta force" she looked at me in shock before nodding. I pointed "you 2, I need you 10 meters that way" they nodded and crouch ran down the trench, I looked at 2-5 and the other unknown "You two go 5 meters down the trench. Twitch and I will hold here" they nodded and moved to the position as I radioed "Jäger prosecute any enemies who give you the chance" he replied "Ja, I'll get it done" I rested my M4 on the top of the trench and started firing as twitch did the same "So I'm delta now?" I glanced over "you've done some of the most difficult missions in delta history, you're just as Delta as I am" she smiled to herself "I like the sound of that" as we fired.
Jagers pov
I fired a burst before I yelled "reloading!" And looking down "Kapkan I need a new box" he replied "I'm getting it" as I lifted the top of the .50 and swiped out the rest of the belt before pulling the box out of its holder. I heard Kapkan "here" I looked down and grabbed the box before handing him the empty box he yelled "Longer burst! Longer burst!". I placed it in the holder before pulling the lead of the belt and placing it on the receiver before slamming the top down and pulling the priming handle and firing again "Roger!" a Russian with an RPG popped over their cover as I shifted the turret and yelled "RPG!" As I pressed on the paddles causing the .50 to bark to life as holes appeared in his chest as the RPG fired soaring up and impacting a Skyscraper behind us, I dropping inside the humvee as rocks pelted the top.
