Part 2
YOUR POV
When you woke up, there were wires strapped around you and a tight pull on your right leg. You open your eyes and stare at your surroundings. You were in the hospital. You sit up and groan at the sudden pain that shot throughout your leg. You glance down seeing the cast surrounding it.
"Ugh, what the hell happened?" You questioned yourself before completely sitting up. A figure in the far corner of the room acknowledged your presence and turns around. You're startled a bit before realizing who it was.
"Spider-man? What are you doing here?" You asked as the man in the colored suit slowly approached you.
"I just had to make sure you were okay. You were injured pretty bad." He says and you remember the events that led you here. You groan at yourself.
"I'm fine. I - shouldn't you be out there you know, catching those bad guys?" You asked him. Before he gets the chance to reply, the door opens and he disappeared as a nurse walks into the room.
"Nice to see you awake sweetheart." She said as she walked closer to the hospital bed. "I just need to take some vitals and ask you a few questions." You nod and attempt to sit up. She checked you out and told you everything was fine besides your leg which you would have to stay off for a while.
"Do you have anyone who can come and take you home?" She asked.
"No, but it's alright. I can manage by myself." The nurse seems to smile at you sadly and question before exiting the room.
Spiderman jumps down from the ceiling, after making sure no one else was around, causing you to be startled again.
"I will not get used to that." You state and calm yourself down. He stands by the window and slowly observed you.
"What?" You asked him, getting a weird tension in the room.
"You said no one can come and pick you up?" He asks you and moves over to sit on the edge of the hospital bed with you. You smile sadly.
"I don't really have friends to pick me up at the moment and I'm staying with my aunt while my parents are out of town... she has worked right now." He takes a moment to comprehend before saying the first thing that came to his mind.
"Can I take you home?" You couldn't help but scoff out a small laugh.
"How? Are you gonna web sling me there?" You asked and all the masked stranger does is stare at you but you could tell he was smirking.
"Oh, seriously?" You ask him and he nods.
PETERS POV
I couldn't believe that I got (Y/N) placed in the hospital. If I had just been a little more careful none of this would have happened. This was exactly the kind of event I was trying to avoid.
"Thank you." She mumbled to me gently as I helped her enter her apartment on her crutches.
"I mean Spider-man out of all people coming to my rescue then taking me home? I must be something special." She laughed out. You have no idea.
"I'm just your friendly neighborhood Spider-man," I tell her and help her to sit down on the couch. I make sure she is comfortable and well adjusted before I go into her kitchen and open her window.
"You could just use the door like a normal person." She tells me as my head is poking out of the window.
"Where's the fun in that?" I ask her then continue out the window to go on patrol.
~~~~
Monday came back sooner than I thought. As I got on the back of the bus, everyone started talking about what had happened yesterday. They seemed to be excited that the neighborhood was finally getting some sort of action. I was too.
"Hey, did (Y/N) tell you about what happened?" I had asked Ned when we sat down. I knew him and (Y/N) talked a little bit now and then despite what happened.
"That she got attacked at the store? Man, it was all over the news! I bet she has some crazy scar now!" Ned said excitedly.
"She didn't get attacked, she was just a victim of a bad robbery," MJ states and sits back into the seat of the bus. "Just ask her yourself." We look at her.
"Yeah, we're not really friends right now," I mumbled then played with my headphones a little bit.
"Your loss Parker, (Y/N)'s like one of the coolest people in the school."
~~~~~~
"So then what?" (Y/N) asked me as we sat together on her bed eating some take-out. I had finished patrolling early and decided to come and check up on her. As usual, her aunt was at work and her parents were still out of town for the month. I figured she wouldn't want to eat dinner alone so I surprised her.
Recently I've been trying to hang out with her more often. I knew I couldn't do it like Peter so I just opted to do it as Spiderman. Was it bad on my part? Maybe but I couldn't help myself.
I didn't know what it was but I just couldn't and didn't want to stay away from her. Maybe our bond was too strong and choosing not to be her friend anymore was the wrong thing for me to do.
"The van exploded," I tell her and she looks at me with a shocked expression. I simply nod in excitement.
"Don't you ever get tired?" She had asked me when I finished telling her the story.
"How could I?" I reply. "There's this rush you get in knowing that you're helping people and all these bad guys? Super cool." She chuckled at my excitement.
"This is nice, you're too nice." She mumbled with some noodles in her mouth. "Weird question, but like are we friends now, or is this just until my foot heals so you don't feel guilty?"
"Are you kidding me? We are totally friends, as a matter of fact, you've just been promoted to being my best friend." I say half-jokingly.
"Awesome, I'm friends with Spiderman. I just hope you're not some creepy guy under the mask." She says then cringes slightly. I fake gasp.
"I'm offended. You think I'm some creepy guy under this mask?" I crack up. Her eyes widen slightly as she stares at me. She gives me a saddened smile before moving a piece of her hair behind her ear. I arch my brows at her.
"Did I say something wrong?" I say frantically.
"No, it's just - it's your laugh. I never noticed it before but it reminds me of someone." She says then gets up to throw out the takeout boxes. Was she catching on already? I was just starting to enjoy spending time with her again. I pull my mask back over my lip.
"Who? If you don't mind me asking." I ask her already knowing the answer.
"An old friend. His name was Peter and you laughed just like him for a second." She smiles sadly before sitting back on the bed and elevating her sprained foot. "Maybe I'm just hearing things."
"Did he pass away or-" I say trying not to blow my cover but still let her know that I was paying attention to her.
"Oh no, we just fell off as friends. I don't really want to talk about it." She says and the sad look on her face returns. I must have really hurt her. Damn it, you're an idiot Parker.
"Promise me we'll still be friends when I get my cast removed next week?"
"Next week? It's been that long already?" She nods her head slightly then smiles her precious little smile. I was starting to love it more and move every time I saw her.
"Yeah, next week Thursday. I can finally get rid of these crutches." She says excitedly.
"I promise we'll still be friends when you get your cast removed." She smiles again.
"Well, it seems like you don't need me here anymore. Goodnight (Y/N)." I tell her before turning around towards the fire escape.
"Goodnight Spidey." She mumbles and I close the window of her fire escape.
