AGE 26

I could have slept for days, I wanted to sleep for days. It wasn't until I was finally asleep that I realized how exhausted I was. Unfortunately, the universe was on a personal mission to make my weekend hell. The sound of Jaimie barging into the house at eight in the morning woke me up.

"Why is everyone still asleep!" My sister cried in a shrieky voice that could shatter glass. "We have a very busy day! I'm already behind in the schedule! Up, up, up!"

"Please make it stop." I groaned groggily.

From the opposite couch I saw Derek pick up his head. His nice groomed look from yesterday was replaced by messy bed hair, and dried up drool on his check. He looked like an idiot. "I wish." He mumbled sleepily, then threw his head back into the pillows.

Jaimie stared at me, her eyes narrowed and almost amused. "What?" I snapped.

She shrugged, "Nothing."

"Then please leave, I need at least forty eight more hours of sleep." I said burrowing deep into the covers.

A second later, I felt the covers being snatched away from me. I may or may not have whimpered, that is all hearsay, but I was forced to sit up. "Come on Millie, we've got a busy day ahead of us. The boys have a fitting scheduled for ten o'clock, and while they're doing that we get to relax at the spa."

My ears perked up at that. "Spa day?" I practically jumped off the couch. "Thank god, I have tension right-"

Jaimie shot her hand up and stopped me. "No, you have a final fitting with the boys. If you were here on time yesterday, you would've had your fitting with us and gone to the spa today. But you didn't, so you're stuck with the boys until lunch."

"That fucking storm was not my fault!" I cried out, stomping off into the bathroom though I did stagger a bit. I guess I was still a little drunk from the night before and my head was killing me.

"You better have your dress rehearsal outfit steam ironed because I'm not doing it!" Jaimie yelled, making my head feel dizzy as I closed the bathroom door behind me.

"Yeah whatever." I mumbled, turning on the faucet and splashing cold water on my face. I stayed in the bathroom and figured it was best to stay out of Jaimie's way while she went on a rampage through the house.

From the sounds of it, Jaimie came to Mom's house on a mission. She finally got Derek to wake up, who was assigned to wake up the groom, while Jaimie tried to rouse Ruby. All the while, I washed my face and brushed my teeth, trying to rid my mouth of the taste of stale whiskey. What I wanted most was a nice hot shower but all my clothes were at Jaimie's.

When I opened the bathroom door, Jaimie was shoving Derek out of the way and pounding on my bedroom door. "I don't care that Julia's in there Leo, I only care about keeping everyone on schedule. Now both of you get dressed and get out here!" Jaimie demanded.

Mom finally came out of her room, fully dressed and ready for the day. Our eyes locked, and I plastered a big fake smile on my face. "You look beautiful today Mother."

"You look hungover." She replied dryly.

I narrowed my eyes and turned to Jaimie who was watching us cautiously. She may have been the ringmaster of the wedding, but even she knew not to get into whatever Mom and I had. "Can I get a ride to your house? I need to shower and change."

Jaimie grimaced guiltily, "I can't, I have to take Jules straight to the spa, everybody should be there already."

My heart dropped. The universe was really out to get me. Before Mom could say something snarky I remembered that Jorge's car keys were still in the gutter on the roof.
