This had started out as more of a personal challenge to see if he could woo the girl who seemed like she could never be wooed by anyone.

Now? It was more of a deep dive into actually, seriously crushing on her. Which scared him, to be completely honest. He didn't usually feel like that about girls.

So he hung around her a lot more. Stopping by her locker, simple gifts, a fun little exchange of silly faces across the room. It was simple, really, and he enjoyed his time with her a lot more than he ever did each day. She was a lot more bright and funny and carefree when she got more comfortable with you, and Fitz was glad to be sorted into that category.

The only problem, if it was to be considered a problem, was Keefe.

Fitz knew Keefe was planning on trying to hit on Sophie before Fitz had told him it seemed impossible. And now that Fitz was hanging around Sophie more, he had the feeling Keefe was jealous. The topic of Sophie could never come up around their table without Keefe getting tense,  and Keefe was always casually around whenever Sophie and him were talking.

And then the big thing happened - he attempted to hit on Sophie and it didn't work. Fitz had known all along it didn't work, even he had had to take a different approach. Of course, Keefe being Keefe and thinking he was just trying to stop him from flirting with Sophie didn't listen to him.

And now Keefe was mad because he thought Fitz had told Sophie not to respond to his flirting.

"I didn't, I swear." Fitz insisted, trying to ignore Keefe's loud accusations.

"Yes, you did! You got it to work, so clearly it's not her - it must be you." He ravaged, slumping down on the couch, his hands balling into fists.

"Keefe, you need to calm down." Fitz tried to get him to stop looking like he was going to tear down the house any minute. "You're being too loud - Della's home, remember?"

"I won't calm down until you admit you actually did it." Keefe said angrily, turning towards him.

"But I didn't." Fitz pleaded. "Come on, Keefe, think reasonably. Why would I do that?! I've never done it before."

"Because you want her all to yourself!" He screamed.

Fitz was super off put by the crazy, screaming Keefe. It definitely didn't seem like him, and he wondered whether something had happened that would've made him like this.

"Keefe-" Fitz began as Keefe put his head in his hands, breathing heavily.

"Dude, I'm sorry."  He said after a few moments. "I just, you know, really like her?"

Fitz sighed at his friend, a half smile on his face. "I forgive you. And really?"

"I think so." Keefe said miserably. "But she likes you - we all see it."

"Whoa, what do you mean?!" Fitz said, slightly shocked. He didn't think she liked him - he had hoped, but didn't think she did.

"Everyone can see it." Keefe said, giving him a small smile. "And I know you like her, so. . . go for it."

Fitz shot his best friend a small smile back. "Thanks. And you'll find the one, I know you will. Who could resist the amazing Lord Hunkyhair?"

Keefe grinned. "Yeah, I mean, who could?"

They continued to have fun, all tension relieved - but Fitz couldn't help but think about what Keefe had said.

And what he would do about it.

He pulled a few strings, talked to some people, and bribed the principal (just a little bit), and eventually it was all put together.

The prom was soon, and Fitz had a plan. Keefe had helped him, despite his overdramatic reaction a few days ago, he had agreed to help. "Anything for a friend." He had said, and Fitz was ever so grateful, because the project became 10 times more fun.

He walked up to Sophie at her locker, flowers hidden behind his back along with a copy of Rick Riordan's new book. Half cliche, and half not - he learned that that was one of her favorite types of books.

He gave Keefe the thumbs up signal, and Keefe nodded, a grin on his face.

"Sophie?" He asked tentatively.

"Yeah?" She said, turning to look at him, and then gasped in shock as the huge banner that proclaimed "will you go to prom with me?" dropped down behind him. It was all Keefe's doing, really.

Fitz pulled the book and flowers out from behind his back, and she grinned, small tears in her eyes. "No way."

"Yes way." He said, a grin on his face. "Will you go to prom with me?"

"Of course!!" She gasped, and Fitz wrapped his arms around her. She hugged him too, burying her face into the crook of his neck. "Did you plan all this out?" She said in a hushed whisper.

"With a little help from my friend and some bribing to the principal-"

"Bribing?" She chided, still not letting go of him. "Really?"

"Anything for you, Princess." He whispered, causing her to probably blush - he couldn't see it, but he could guess.

So there. That's it.

That's how you get the girl.
