my eyes fluttered open as the sound of loud talking flooded my room. i weakly sat up and looked to my now opened door. sodapop was standing there and said "hey y/n! how'd ya sleep?"

"great, besides the fact i only slept for like 5 hours."

he laughed, "welcome to my world. me and steve are goin' to work and darrys leaving soon too, so if ya need anything, ask two. well, if he's not drunk. if he is, ask pony and he'll help ya out."

i yawned and nodded my head, "sounds good to me. see ya later soda."

he smiled as he walked out, leaving the door open.

"can you shut the door? please?" i said, my voice cracking.

there was no answer and i didn't feel like getting out of bed, so i let it be. usually i would get super pissed off because of how annoying it is when my parents leave my door open, but these guys were new in my life and i didn't want them thinking i was a witch or something.

i realized i hadn't checked my phone yet, so i picked it up, my eyes struggling to stay open. i responded to some texts and snaps and scrolled on instagram a little bit until i decided to eat breakfast. i stood up and started walking to the door.

ponyboy was standing at the door, his face slightly pink, and he said "hey.. uh, i took your book by accident." he set the book on my desk and started to walk out.

"wait, ponyboy, i have a question!"

he stopped and turned around. i wasn't expecting him to look at me the way he did. he look annoyed, like i just punched him or something. i felt too awkward to say never mind, so i just kept talking.

"did you read that book? i saw you take it last night, and i realized it was a little different... then what people of your time are used to, ya know?"

he seemed surprised that i asked him about the book, but still had a cold look on his face.

"yeah, i read it."

that's all he said. then he turned around and walked away. damn, what's his problem? i didn't do anything, did i? i just stood there and massaged my temples.

"i'm headin' to work! see ya later!" darry called from the front door.

i decided not to reply considering i didn't really know darry. it was weird living with a bunch of guys i didn't know that well, but also so well. especially ones that every girl in my class- including me- fangirled over when we watched the movie in class last year.

i made the certain movement in my side to go home and i walked to my kitchen. i grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and made myself a bowl of cereal.

"good morning y/n! me and your dad were just watching the news and school was shut down for another month because of this whole covid-19 pandemic."

"mom, just call it the coronavirus, you're not a scientist." i laughed and she rolled her eyes.

"the one day you stop being a smart ass is the day i'll have a heart attack."

. . .

i walked back to my room after i ate and i sat on my bed. do i really want to do anything right now? i thought to myself.

nah.

i laid back in bed and grabbed my tv remote. i turned on (your favorite channel) and began to watch it.

after about an hour or so, my door swung open and johnny stood there with two-bit and pony. i paused my show and looked at them. i didn't know i traveled here, must've done that on accident.
