( CHAPTER FOUR )

Steve Harrington had walked into the lounge that morning with a slight hangover from last night. Nancy had left him that morning and everyone else left that night.

Expect one person.

His eyes widen slightly when he noticed Hailey Henderson lying on the couch, sleeping peacefully. He watched her for a few minutes, wondering how someone could sleep like that. She looked like she had no worries, she was carefree.

Hailey and turned around, soft snores filled Steve's ears and he didn't want to wake her up. But he had to, they had school to go to. If they didn't leave in the next ten minutes, they would be late. Not that Steve cared, but he knew Hailey would care.

Steve walked over to the kitchen, noticing something on the counter. He picked up the note that he had spotted.

Thanks, but no thanks x
~ H.H

He looked down at the money and chuckled. He picked up the money and walked over to her purse that she had put down. He placed the money back in her purse and wrote on the note.

Seriously, take the money x

He walked over to her once had done and bends down in front of her. "Hailey," he softly whispers. "Hailey," he speaks a little louder and her eyes flutter open.

Hailey had completely forgotten that she was in Steve Harrington's house. She sat up quickly, gasping. "Holy shit. Holy shit!" She throws the blanket and looked down at herself. She groaned. She was still wearing the same dress. She can't wear this to school. "Shit, shit, shit."

"Calm down," Steve advises her, standing up as she does. "You look great,"

Hailey shoved him aside. "No, you douche, I can't wear this to school." She walked puts her heels on and grabbed her purse. "Can you take me to my house so I can change, please?" Steve just simply stares at her. "Steve Harrington this is the only time I'm going to beg you to do anything for me, please?"

Steve broke out into a smile. He was going to even if she hadn't begged. "Well, if you say so," he shrugged and walked over to the counter and grabbed his keys. Hailey relaxed slightly, before realising that she was well over curfew.

"Fuck!" Hailey curses allowed, causing Steve to give her a look. He never expected her to be the swearing type. Then again, he knew nothing about Hailey Henderson. No one did. "This is so not good."

"What's not good?" Steve followed Hailey out of the door as she practically ran to the car. Hailey stands by the car impatiently, Steve standing on the opposite side of car, at the driver's door.

"Mum's gonna kill me," was all she said and he unlocked the car door. She had quickly gotten in, Steve laughed lightly. "Don't laugh, this could be the last time you ever see me."

He rolled his eyes and he reverses. "You're being dramatic,"

Hailey sat in silences, she decided to not answer. Steve saw how stressed out she was and made sure he went a little bit over the speed limit, to make her feel better.

They pulled into Henderson's driveway. "Thanks for the ride, Steve. You can go to school now." Hailey opened the door and unbuckled her seatbelt.

"I'll just wait for you," Steve decided, he liked spending time with her. And if that meant waiting 15 minutes for her to get ready, he would.

Hailey gave him a look. "You don't have too,"

"I want too," Steve insisted and Hailey sighed, half nodding. Hailey quickly got out of the car and made her way to the house.

Hailey opened the door slowly, entering her house. Her mother wasn't in sight and she smiled before running upstairs to her room.

She almost had a heart attack when she saw her little brother standing in her room, with crossed arms. "Where the hell were you last night?" Dustin asks, raising an eyebrow at his sister.

"I..." Hailey stutters slightly. "Where were you?" She fires back, she realised she hadn't seen Dustin at all last night either.

"At Mike's," Dustin half lied, smiling. His eyes looked at the outfit she was wearing. "You did your hair, you have makeup on, and you're dressed up... You went to a party!" He points a finger at her, smiling.

"I did not," Hailey spat back. "It was a group gathering."

Dustin rolled his eyes. "Same thing. And you didn't come home last night. So, who's house did you spend the night at?"

Hailey didn't say anything and her eyes wandered over to her window, from her bedroom window you can see a clear view of the driveway. Dustin smirked before running towards the bedroom window. "No, don't!"

Hailey came up behind a few seconds and Dustin frowned when he noticed Steve Harrington's car there. Steve noticed the two Henderson siblings standing there, staring at him. Steve gave them an awkward smile and wave.

Dustin walked back further into the room and scoffed. "You stayed the night at Steve Harrington's?" Hailey followed her brother.

"I didn't mean to," Hailey admitted. "I just kind of fell asleep on his couch last night." It went silent before Dustin could ask any more questions, Hailey cuts him off. "Don't you have school to go to, young man?"

He groaned. "No," Hailey gave him a look. "Yes."

"Look, I need to get change, so if you could please leave me in peace, that would be lovely, thanks." Hailey sarcastically said, pushing her little brother out of the door.

"But-"

Hailey shuts the door on Dustin's face. She chuckled a little.

She sighed and got a new pair of clothes, she wipes off the makeup, chose some better shoes and decided to leave her hair out. It was still curly from last night.

Hailey leaves the house without getting caught, she walked towards the car and hops in, throwing her bag in the back. "You're not dead?" Steve jokingly asks, smiling at the beautiful girl in front of him.

Hailey rolled her eyes, smirking to herself and puts the seatbelt on. "Didn't get caught. Its a win for me this time!"

"Ooh, you're so bad," Steve teased as he pulled out of the driveway and Hailey laughed.

"Yeah, fear me, bitches," Hailey bosts, she had sudden confidence struck her. Steve noticed it and he felt pride for her, a small smile played on his lips and he laughed. "King Steve who? Its Queen Hailey now."

"Ouch," Steve sarcastically played along. "My ego is hurt, Hails,"

Hailey ignored the nickname he gave her. "Sorry, not sorry," the pair continued to joke around with each other for the rest of the ride to school, they made each other laugh. At that moment, Hailey forgot who she was talking to, and so did Steve.

At that moment, Hailey even considered that they could be friends' if Steve wasn't a grade-A asshole half the time. She saw his true self today, and she's never going to forget it.
