Two Sides Of Tova.

Twenty-three

Oh life, how thou art beautiful and sweet.

   My mind was just fuzzy and hazy, filled with giddy emotions. That kiss still lingered in my head, I couldn't even think of anything else.

"Tova Travis!!".

A loud voice brought me out of my imaginations, I looked up to meet the gaze of my teacher whose face was set in a snarl with his cheeks red in anger.

"Damn". I mumbled silently so he won't hear me. "I'm sorry, Mr. Chris, I'll pay close attention now". I apologized facing him as he stood directly in front of me posing akimbo.

"Oh you'll pay attention, in detention". He snared with a smug expression. "Get it?". He smirked even further.

I sighed deeply, Jack and I were supposed to hang out today after him trying to convince me that nothing was going on between him and Kendra.

I faced the work on the board and payed attention this time. Within some minutes the bell rang,

"Don't forget to submit your assignments next Thursday". Mr. Chris called after us as we left the classroom.

  I was already getting tired from the activities and classes I've had today and the last one is P.E.

I was stuck looking at Kendra pretend and fawn over the littlest thing, she keeps acting like this is her first time ever carrying out an exercise.

"Urrgh". Anna staggered towards me leaning on my arm for support  like as if she had been starved of breath for a long time. "This is torture, I wonder what kind of person makes a little kid like me go through this in my condition".

I smiled at her antics, "You're not a little kid and you're not in any condition".

"That's what I'm trying to say, look at me!". She widened her eyes and gestured all over her body.

"Anna you're fine okay?".

We started walking towards other students huddled up together. I kept glancing at Jack and Kendra who had her arms around him. Jealousy burned deep in my gut, she has no right to touch my Jack!!!

  I need to keep my emotions under wraps, my face hurts from frowning a lot. Whenever I look at the way she clutches him like her favourite designer bag, I have this burning need to dismember her limbs and throw it into the fiery red furnace.

"Your burning jealousy is affecting me too, very much might I add. You need to calm down Tova, he already clarified that he has nothing to do with that girl so trust what he has said". Ara-ñat said calming me down.

I sighed out loud still dragging Anna towards the coach and the other students, I am going to take on Ara-nat’s idea and try to calm down whenever I see Jack and Kendra together.

“Now students, I’m going to separate you all into sections who will take to the tracks and run at least 200m and from there I’ll evaluate you all , okay?”. Our coach said and then divided us into sections of four sections each.

In my team were two girls, Lily and Kayla as well as Kendra and I. We were on the fourth team to go run on the tracks, it was Anna’s turn to run on the tracks, she lazily walked up to the starting line. “I didn’t sign up for this, I don’t even think I’m going to put any effort into this anyway as long as I just pass it and get out of high school”.

Even though she didn’t put any effort she still turned up third and i still cheered for her nevertheless. The team before I ran just finished their race and it was my turn. My palms became sweaty, desperately I wiped it on my shorts.

“Okay nice work girls, next is team four, Lily, Kayla, Kendra and lastly, Tova, step into the tracks and take your place at the starting line”. The coach called out to us.

Apprehensively, I took unsteady and tentative steps towards the starting line. I looked back at Anna who gave me a thumbs up for goodluck and Jack who gave me a whoot but out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Kendra waving at him and I got confused as to who it belonged to and frowned.

He seemed to understand and then he looked directly at me and smiled instead, I calmed a little and took my spot at the starting line like the other girls. “Back off bitch, he’s mine”. Kendra sneered at me and bent down at the start of the race.

“On your marks,...... get ready.......”

At that moment, my legs felt like jelly and I felt a strange emotion grab me and wrap itself around me. The familiar emotion overtook me, caging and taking control on my weak & feeble body and I surrendered myself willingly to its change and fell down from my own body. I just simply moved away and stood on the sidelines. I took a good look at my body crouched down in a charging position, my hair unseeingly lighter and thicker at the change of souls, my eyes took on the deep green colours of Ara-nat’s, hidden muscles were now protruded out in gallantry and amazement.

“...Go..”.

The coach whistled out loud and Ara-nat charged with vigour, she ran with an immense speed, the gap between her and the other the other girls were more than visible and large at that.

Within record breaking time, she had crossed the finish line, she bent down to catch her breath and waited for the other girls to cross. She looked up to me and gave me an earth-shattering smile and I reciprocated in amazement, I looked back to the crowd of students at the starting position and every single of them had their mouth opened in surprise and confusion.

The coach had to shake herself out of it and called out to me, I jogged towards her before I realised that I wasn’t in charge of my body at that moment. Ara-nat jogged towards my direction.

“Nice work Nat, thank you for helping me”. I said to her smiling ear to ear.

"I did it for us, and besides I could not stand the ego of that measly thing that calls herself a female". Ara-nat grumbled at Kendra’s attitude.

I laughed at what she had said and she gave me full control of the body once more, I walked towards the coach with Ara-nat in tow.

“Tova that was some stuff, I’ve never seen anyone run that fast before, good job”. She commended.

“Thanks Miss. White, it was like I wasn’t even myself at all”. I winked at Ara-nat who smirked back at me. I ran to Anna’s approaching body,

“That was amazing, I’ve never seen you run that fast, or anyone for that matter, that was something. Just before the race it looked like you had changed, you have to tell me what you did or I’m not going to believe you”. She ranted.

My eyes unconsciously roamed about searching for Jack’s to see his reaction, I found him walking towards me instead without stopping, his last restraint snapped and almost immediately, he grabbed my face in his thick hands and gave me a breathless kiss instantly shutting my thinking faculty at that moment.

I closed my eyes to the feel of his soft lips gliding on mine, the feel of his hot skin wrapped around my waist protectively. I just lost myself in his kisses unaware to the presence of students around us.

“Alright, break it up you two”. The coach called out to the both of us.

“Yeah get a room!!”. A student shouted at us causing people around to snicker and laugh at what he had said.

He pulled away softly, licking his lips as if hungry for more, his cautious eyes looking deeply into mine inches away from me, the adrenaline died down for now but something twinkling in his eyes told me that he wasn’t done after that mind-blowing kiss that he had just given me.

He leaned forward and placed a feather-like kiss on my forehead, smiled at and then left me to go back to the others.

“I’ll see you later”. He said out loud. I blushed red and used my hair to cover my cheeks, Anna nudged me continuously with her shoulder teasingly.

We laughed together for several minutes, talking amongst ourselves unknowing to the scornful gaze of Kendra whose thirst will not be quenched until I became the ridicule of the entire student population of Crossfall high.
