I was going outside for my morning walk in the park like I do every Saturday. It was the only productive thing I had to do when I wasn't in school.

Here's the catch, though...

While I'm getting ready for my morning walk, I always see some girl in the window next door to me. A pretty girl at that. She's not a new neighbor or anything.

It's just that she's been next door for three years and we've never gotten a chance to say hello.

I walked out of the door and began to walk. My walks were usually two hours but I didn't feel like being out for too long.

After I finished my walk, I went for iced coffee. When I left Starbucks, I came back home and saw the girl next door to me. She had grocery bags in her hand, so I took it upon myself to help her out.

"Hey, there. You need some help?" I asked with a friendly smile.

"Oh, sure. I appreciate it." She smiled.

I gently grabbed the bags out of her hand while she opened the door to her house. We went in and I got a chance to look around.

"This is nice." I said with a grin.

"Thanks. It's not mine. My mom's just out of town for a business trip." She smiled.

"Oh. All by yourself?" I asked.

"Not all the time. My uncle stops by from time to time to make sure I didn't burn the house down." She laughed.

"Good thinking." I laughed.

"Yeah. I guess I can say that my mom is a bit overprotective sometimes, but I can manage."

"That's good. She ought to protect you. I wouldn't want my daughter to be in harm's way."

"I wouldn't either."

The house was silent for a few moments and she asked a question.

"So are you by yourself or live with your parents? I don't really pay attention to the neighbors as much."

"I live with my mom. She and my father got a divorce, so we went out separate ways."

"Awww, I'm sorry."

"It's fine. We're doing ok. I'm still trying to adjust, but it'll be fine."

"Ok, well maybe one day we can hang out to take your mind off of it?" She asked gently.

"I would like that." I grinned.

"Sounds great. I'm Demi, by the way."

"That's a nice name. I'm Y/n. It's nice to meet you." I replied.

She smiled and shook my hand.

"Anyways, I really appreciate you coming to help me with my groceries."

"It's no problem. I'd hate to see a pretty lady such as yourself struggle with bags. I won't stand for it."'I chuckled.

She smiled and flipped her hair.

"Thanks

"Thanks." She smiled.

"You're welcome." I winked.

She came closer to me and pulled me in for a hug.

"It was nice talking to you." She said with her chin resting on my shoulder.

"Likewise," I replied.

I pulled away and headed to the door.

"Would you like to come over some other time and we can get to know each other?" She asked.

"Of course. How does tomorrow at six sound?" I asked.

"Perfect." She smiled.

"Good. I'll see you then."

"Ok. See you later." She smiled.

I winked at her and walked away, holding my head high at the fact that I finally talked to the girl next door.
