Just a Lie

"I'm...I'm breaking up with you."

"what!? But..I...Why? Did I do something wrong?" A soft whimper.

"No...Hon, You didn't do anything wrong. I just...I've realized some things about myself. And...I can't be with you if I don't even like guys."

"So...you're saying you're lesbian?"

"Yeah."

"Our entire relationship...you didn't even feel the same? If you weren't even attracted to guys...did you even care about how I'd feel if I found out our entire relationship was a lie?"

"Zach...I'm so sorry. I was trying to convince myself that I was normal...but I can't take it. I just can't."

"You were using me to make you feel normal? What do you even mean normal? Who says being lesbian is abnormal?"

"I'm not used to it, Zach! My entire life...I've been raised being told that gays go to hell. It's not that easy. I'm sorry, Zach."

There was a quiet sigh.

"Alright. I guess it's over. Can we still be friends?"

"That'd be nice."

A lingering silence filled the room. "I'll miss...having you...as a girlfriend. Even if it wasn't real."

"You were a fun person. I wish I felt the same about you."

"Yeah..."

Kay opened the door and walked out, shrugging her jacket on. A chorus of 'bye, Kay! See you later,' could be heard from the neighbouring room. Little did the boys know, they may not see her for a while. Zach sighed softly. He felt as though his heart was being squeezed. It only dawned upon him a second after Kay left, that he'd never get to kiss her soft lips again. He wouldn't get to hold her hand and cuddle with her. He wouldn't be able to run his fingers through her soft hair. Or see her smile when he surprised her with gifts. All of it was just a lie. One big fat lie. The tears came rushing out, and before Zach knew it, he was sobbing. Zach pulled his knees closer to his chest and hung his head in defeat. He thought she actually loved him. Why do all the shitty things happen to him? Zach sighed and crawled into his bed (but not before kicking off his shoes. They soared across the room and landed on the floor next to his nightstand), promptly falling asleep in a cocoon of blankets, still sniffling.

The next morning Zach was woken up to the sound of Daniel clashing pots near his ear. Zach groaned and swiped at Daniel who simply dodged.

"Herron! Wake up! We're going on a mandatory road trip."

"Wha...what do you mean?"

"WHEN YOU NOD YOUR HEAD YES- sorry. The '8 Letters Tour'! Duh. Technically it's a road trip. The bus driver should be here in two hours."

"Two hours? Why'd you wake me up?..."

"Because you take an hour to get dressed. Plus, we figured you might as well be late to breakfast rather than to the bus."

"Ughhhh." Zach groaned, sitting up. Daniel smiled and walked out of the room, a bounce in his step. He was clearly ecstatic for the tour. Zach was too. He was just horribly tired. Zach grabbed a pair of jeans and tee and walked into the room, getting dressed.

An hour later, he walked down the stairs (as Daniel predicted) and sat down, munching on a toast silently.

"Did you wish Kay goodbye?" Jonah asked, glancing at Zach, who still seemed slightly dishevelled.

"We broke up."

"HOLD UP! WHAT!?" Jack hollered, surprised. "When?! Why?"

"Yeah...yesterday. She's figured out some things about her self. One of them being that she wasn't attracted to guys at all."

"Wait...what?" Jonah asked.

"She's lesbian. Which she knew for a long time. She just needed to convince herself that she was, Quote, normal, end quote."

"Oh...That sucks." Jack said, sitting down across from Zach. "Sorry."

Zach shrugged. "It was mutual. On her side."

"Yikes..."

Zach sighed and finished up his bread, standing up. "That...is truly depressing," Corbyn said, walking over to Zach, wrapping his arms around Corbyn. Zach rolled his eyes.

"No shit, Sherlock."

"Well, you still have us." Corbyn grinned.

"Because I totally want to spend the rest of my life with you, losers."

"I feel offended."

"I feel attacked. Let go of me."

"Gasp! No one ever dislikes my hugs!"

"I'd rather hug Bam-Bam," Zach grumbled, shrugging Corbyn off of him. Corbyn didn't feel hurt by it at all though because he knew that Zach was truly upset. The kid was never quiet! He was either always cracking jokes, making fun of someone (half-heartedly) or smiling.

"You guys ready to go?" Daniel asked, walking into the house. He'd just tossed their bags into the tour bus.

"Yeah..." Zach mumbled, brushing past Daniel and walking out of the house.

"What's up with Shawty?"

"Okay...first of all, never, ever, EVER insult the vertically challenged! Second of all, his girlfriend broke up with him." Jack said.

"Why?"

"Because she's lesbian," Jonah answered, walking past the boys. He had his bag slung across his shoulder and some music equipment in his hand (in a bag).

"I thought she was American?" Daniel asked, eyebrows raised. The remaining boys groaned, walking away from the blue-eyed boy.

"what! It's funny! I love vines!" Daniel hollered, following them.

The End.
