Panimula

"Sumunod ka agad! Kailangan na nating kumain para makahabol pa tayo kila Miguel!" sigaw ni Cara sa akin at tumakbo papunta sa restaurant na malapit sa dalampasigan.

Tumango ako bilang pagtugon. The sun was already setting when I arrived in the venue of our reunion with my college friends. My friends were already here since morning and have done some activities already.

Well, I did not really plan on getting here late. Nagkataon lang na may emergency check-up sa clinic. I can't say no to my patient kaya pumayag naman ako.

I looked lazily at the waves reaching my feet. The water feels warm...very inviting for a swim. But Cara wouldn't like it if I plunge myself in. Pagkatapos ng ilang saglit ay nagtungo na ako sa restaurant na kakainan namin.

Underneath my long-sleeved white polo and denim shorts, I wore a brown bikini paired with my nude strappy flat sandals. I saw Cara talking to a guy as I entered the resto. Nang nakita niya ako ay mukhang nagpaalam na siya sa lalake dahil umalis na ito.

"Who's that?" tanong ko pagkaupo ko. The resto is an open space, but has wood fences and a minibar at the side. It's packed with people, mostly families, having their dinner.

"Chef," she grinned at me. "He asked my name so..." at ngumiti nanaman. "He's so hot!" Umirap nalang ako sa kanya. Sigurado ako mamaya, may fling nanaman siyang bago.

"Anyway, nasaan daw sila Miguel?" dumating naman ang drinks namin at uminom ako agad.

"Nasa Junger na sila! Hay nako! Naunahan tuloy ako ni Jade na umawra doon!" inis na saad niya pero tinawanan nalang namin.

"Well, I don't think you need to go there. You're new fling is in a resto anyway."

"Tss. Doon rin naman ang punta niya mamaya. We kind of...agreed to meet there after his shift," she said and looked at the door leading to the kitchen. "Pakilala kita mamaya," sabi niya at tinaas ang kamay ng makita ang isang waiter na may dalang pagkain.

She opted to order rice meals. I didn't mind though. I am extra tired today. Wala na dapat akong consultations or check-ups ngayon. Kaso dahil sa isang emergency check-up ay tanghali na nang makaalis ako clinic.

This reunion was long overdue. My block mates are equally busy as I am. Hindi lang matuloy dahil karamihan sa amin ay nagtatrabaho na sa ibang bansa. Maraming umuwi ngayong buwan kaya napagkasunduan na ituloy na lamang ito. They initially wanted a week for the reunion, pero ang iba ay may family gatherings na pupuntahan kaya tatlong araw lang ito.

"Are you going to change before we head to Junger?" tanong niya na halatang tapos na kumain.

"Nope, I just changed. Samahan nalang kita," at inayos na ang kubyertos sa aking pinggan. We paid for our dinner and headed back to the hotel. The lobby is quiet; probably most are having their dinner or night swimming. Umakyat na kami sa kanyang floor and she unlocked her room. It was simple just like mine.

Gawa sa kahoy ang lahat ng mga kasangkapan sa loob ng kwarto. The floor is wooden but most of it is covered with a dirty white mat. The bed is covered with white linen sheets together with blue and white pillows. There is a small bedside table with potted plants and small area for luggages as well as a cabinet. There is a television na katapat lamang mismo ng kama pero knowing Cara, alam kong hindi rin magagamit ito.

Pumunta ako sa balcony habang nag-aayos si Cara sa banyo. Mayroong maliit na bench at pillows doon. The sky's already pitch-black but you can still see people coming out of the hotel. Maybe they'll be out to have some fun too. Marami na rin ang pabalik sa kani-kanilang hotel rooms.
