Colby sat in catering a week later with Ashley who was just staring at him
"What?" he asked "Stop staring at me, it's creepy"
"I know you know" the blonde glared
"Know what?" he asked with a laugh
"I know you know the gender" she said and Colby smiled "Tell me!"
"What did Rebecca tell you?"
"She said that you guys were keeping it between you two for awhile and she won't tell me"
"Then I'm not telling you"
"Colby!"
"I'm sorry" he shook his head "but I've got to keep my wife happy and I can't do that if I go behind her back and tell you"
"Just give me a hint" she begged "Come on! I wanna buy stuff!"
"She's gonna have enough stuff"
"AHA!" Ashley exclaimed "Its a girl!"
"Damn it" he ran his hand over his face "You didn't hear that from me" he shook his head
"Who else am I going to hear it from? She's gonna know it was you"
"Not if you keep your mouth shut she's not" he shook his head "Please.. just for a little while longer"
"Fine" she grumbled "but do you know how hard that's going to be? I talk to her everyday!"
"Do you want me to die before this baby is born?" he asked
"Oh relax she wouldn't kill you, now any other harm to you is a different story.." she shrugged
Later that night with Rebecca and Remi back in Iowa...
Remi sat beside her mother on the couch as she placed her little hand against her stomach
"Push down a little bit" Rebecca said
"I don't wanna squish her" the little girl shook her head concerned
"You're not gonna squish her" Rebecca laughed "You have to let her know you're there"
"Did you do this when I was in there too?"
"I did.. I used to sit on the couch in the apartment and just wait for you to move, I would talk to you and tell you stories"
"I don't remember any of the stories" she shook her little head
"Yeah, babies don't remember anything really when they come out into the world.. but one thing you did remember was my voice" she nodded
"Really?" the little girl asked amazed and Rebecca nodded
January 27th 2014
"Look who I found" Rebecca heard her mother say as she walked into the hospital room and she looked to see her best friend walking in behind her mother
"Thank god" Rebecca stated as she let out an exasperated breath "It's about time you showed up" she said locking eyes with her best friend as she held her hand out and the blonde took it quickly as she walked to the side of the bed
"I came as quickly as I could" she said with a laugh
"It's baby time" The doctor walked in the room and Rebecca looked up at her best friend
"Are you ready to become a mom?" Ashley asked her and Rebecca nodded
"I'm ready for this pain to go away" she said
"You'll forget all about it once we lay that baby on your chest" the doctor said with a smile
Two hours of pushing, countless counts to 10, Annette and Ashley saying nothing but encouraging words.
and then there in that room where it had been mostly silent besides the counting and the encouragement a tiny cry was heard.
The doctor placed the baby on Rebecca's chest and she couldn't hold the tears back anymore.
"Look at her.." Rebecca said with a smile "She's beautiful" she said
"You did so amazing" Ashley said with a smile as she wiped the tears from her cheeks
"Well done sweetheart" Annette kissed her daughter's head
"Hi Remi" Rebecca whispered and the baby quieted down quickly and began looking around with wide eyes, her eyes, thank god "Oh my god you're gorgeous" she said and the newborn stared up at her
"She knows your voice Mommy" A nurse said
"Why did I remember it?" Remi questioned
"Because, no matter what.. a baby knows their mommy.. just like I know you, I will always know you.. no matter what happens or where you are in the world I'd be able to find you"
"Like that Mommy elephant found her baby with all those other elephants?"
"Exactly" Rebecca nodded "They all looked alike but she could pick out her baby"
The two girls sat on the couch and watched Monday Night RAW.
"You need to tell daddy to stop wearing that jacket" Remi spoke up as they watched her father
"Why?" Rebecca laughed
"He looks dumb"
"Remi" Rebecca shook her head with a laugh
"He does.. at least your jackets are cool.. Daddy sucks at fashion"
"Why don't you tell him yourself" she said
"DADDY!" Remi yelled at the TV "YOU SUCK AT FASHION! LOSE THE JACKET!" she screamed
"I don't think he can hear you" Rebecca shook her head but then not even five seconds later they watched Colby remove the jacket and throw it on the ground
"It worked!" the little girl said pointing at the TV "Woah" Remi pulled her hand that was still sitting on her mother's stomach away quickly and she stared at it "What was that?" she looked at her mother
"You woke her up with your screaming"
"She heard me?"
"How could she not? I think our neighbors heard you"
"Sorry" Remi said as she bent down and looked at the bump "I didn't mean to scare you" she apologized "Do you think she knows Daddy is on TV?"
"Considering she can't see out.. no"
"Hey.. Daddy's on TV.. and since you can't see I'll tell you what's happening"
That's exactly what happened, Rebecca watched as her daughter commentated Colby's entire match move for move to her unborn sister.. it was one of the cutest things she'd ever seen and she wasn't about to break up this moment of bonding.
