One month later...
The whole nightmare was still going, Bethany was still trying to convince Colby that she was carrying his child, even after requesting a DNA test she was still adamant.
The next thing they decided to do is what lead them to a coffee shop in Phoenix.
Rebecca and Colby sat in the car in the parking lot of the coffee shop, Rebecca could see Luke from the window and she just stared at him.
"Are you sure about this?" Colby asked as he watched Luke walk out of the coffee shop and sit down at one of the canopied tables
"I'm not sure about anything" she shook her head "but I do know we need to get the answer, we need to know what they're planning"
"I don't have a good feeling about this" he shook his head
"Neither do I but do you really want to keep living in this nightmare or do we want to move on?"
"Nothing he says.. would make you go back right?"
"Are you really asking me that? Are you really that insecure about us?"
"I'm not insecure about us.. and it's not you that I don't trust, its him" he glared at Luke
"I'll be fine" she nodded "You're right here where you can see everything and if it starts to get out of hand I'll walk away"
"If starts to get out of hand I'm stepping in" he corrected "I really don't like this" he shook his head
"Would you much rather go confront him yourself?"
"Yes" he nodded "but you won't let me"
"Yeah because You'd kill him and I don't need you in jail" she shook her head "What are you afraid of?"
"You're strong, you're one of the strongest people I know" he nodded "but you've said it yourself he's dangerous when he's angry and anything can happen in a split second and look in the bag on the floor if you need a reminder of why we can't afford anything happening" he said and she looked at the Target bag on the floorboard, at the pregnancy tests that they had just bought. "I don't like the fact that I'm sending not just you but both of you into danger like that"
"It's a public place Colby, he's not going to do anything major out in the open like that.. and as far as baby goes, we don't even know for sure that I'm pregnant all we have to go off of is the fact that my period never started when it should have after I stopped the birth control" she said "That could be a number of things, but I'll tell you this.. I'm gonna be safe, I'll be fine and if I am pregnant" His eyes snapped to hers "Baby's safely tucked away in there and have you ever seen the video of the Momma bear when somebody tried to hurt her cubs?" she asked and he shook his head "Yeah.. not a pretty outcome for the person.. I'll protect us both" she said and he nodded but she could still see the uncertainty in his eyes "Okay look" she grabbed his face so he was staring at only her "Your baby or not, we need answers. If I'm pregnant right now or not doesn't matter" she shook her head "We need answers" she said again and he nodded
She reached for the door and he grabbed her face in his hands and brought her lips to his quickly.
"Be fucking careful" he said and she nodded
