Rebecca was released from the hospital the next day, the doctors wanted to keep her one more day just to monitor her and the baby and make sure there wasn't another scare. Once they got the all clear to go home Colby didn't think he could get her home fast enough.
Holly thankfully had flown home from California and straightened the house up before they got there so that wasn't a worry.
Parking the car in the driveway, Colby watched Remi get out of the backseat quickly and run to the door. He made his way around the car as Rebecca was getting out and immediately grabbed her
"I'm good" she said "I'm steady" she looked up at him with a nod
"Can't I just carry you?" he asked and she rolled her eyes
"Colby, I've been through worse.. I can walk" she nodded
Once getting Rebecca settled in the house, Remi went to shower and change out of the pajamas she'd been in for the last almost 48 hours.
Colby walked back into the living room and placed a glass on the end table next to his wife.
"Orange juice?" she questioned "Why?"
"I read that it gets babies to move" he shrugged as he sat down next to her
"Yeah" she nodded "but did you forget the part where oranges make me throw up?"
"Should have went with apple" he nodded
"Or dragon fruit" she stated
"Do you want dragon fruit juice? I don't know where I'd find it but I'll wherever has it and get it" he stood up and she grabbed his hand
"No" she shook her head with a small laugh "I'm good love, I'm okay" she pulled him back down "I'm just messing with you" she said and he shook his head "Hey" she grabbed his face and made him look at her "I'm okay" she said once again
"Do you know how terrifying that call was?"
"I can imagine considering I was just as terrified when I woke up"
"I mean I was in another country, and this number that I didn't know kept calling me and then your number called me and I answered and it was a nurse telling me that my wife and daughter were brought into the hospital and thats all they would tell me" he shook his head "I didn't know if you two were in an accident, if Luke had gotten out of jail, if Beth had went fucking psychotic.. and I didn't know if either one of you were okay, for the entire flight I just had my thoughts, the worst possible outcomes running through my head.. and I broke my promise to you"
"What are you talking about?" she asked confused
"I promised you that I would always be here, that I would be here for everything this time and the time that you needed me the most I wasn't here"
"Alright enough.." she said "You couldn't have known, I couldn't have known.. nobody could have predicted this happening but the important thing is you came as soon as you found out. You've been there, not leaving my side for the last 24 hours.. you won't even let me walk from the kitchen to the couch" she shook her head
"You're not making me feel better, I know you're trying but its not" he shook his head and she grabbed his hand, placing it on her stomach where the baby was moving and she held it there
"If I can't make you feel better, I know she can" she smiled and he shook his head with a small smile
A few hours later, Rebecca was asleep upstairs while Colby stood in the kitchen while Remi watched him make her food
"Make sure you cut the crust off" the little girl said
"Remi, how many times do you think I have made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in my life?"
"A lot" the little girl nodded
"Exactly, I think I know how to do it" he said and placed the plate in front of her and she stared at it before pushing the plate away with a shake of her head "What? What's wrong?"
"You did it wrong" she said
"What are you talking about? Peanut butter on one piece of bread, jelly on the other, two different knives and there's no crust" he pushed the plate back to her and she shook her head again
"It's not right" she pushed it away again
"Yes it is, there's no way to screw it up"
"No" Remi folded her arms across her chest and she refused to touch it
"Remi, you have to eat" he said
"I don't want it" she shook her head
"Remington Danielle" he said "Eat" he glared at her
"No" she glared back
"You look too much like your mom" he shook his head
Colby heard Rebecca walk into the kitchen and immediately looked over at her
"Everything okay in here?" she asked
"You are supposed to be resting" Colby said
"I was but then I heard arguing"
"I've got it under control"
"Daddy made my sandwich wrong" Remi stated
"I did not" Colby shook his head and Rebecca looked at the plate
"Yes you did" Rebecca nodded
"How?" he asked
"That's strawberry jelly" she said "She likes grape" she moved to the refrigerator and grabbed the grape jelly and another plate tossing the other sandwich in front of her husband "Eat that one" she said to him
"Rebecca I got it" he said reaching for the bread but she pulled away from him
"Mommy does it" Remi glared at her father
Rebecca made the sandwich, cut the crust off and cut it in a heart
"You also didn't cut it right, she may have ate it if you cut it right" Rebecca slid the plate in front of her daughter who began to eat without hesitation
"She's so picky, how have I never realized that?" he shook his head in disbelief
"You never make her food, its always me.. she's very particular about of a lot of things you'll find out""Should I be scared?"
"Just cut the sandwiches into hearts, don't mix her vegetables together, and if you give her quinoa it can't be cheap stuff or she won't eat but maybe one bite if that, Don't overcook rice and whatever you do, do not under any circumstances steam her broccoli in the microwave" she listed and he looked at her with wide eyes "Ya know what, just let me up long enough to cook for her and you can handle the rest" she patted his shoulder
