A/N: OK SO THIS UPDATE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A NATSUME ONESHOT AND MAO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE POSTED 3 WEEKS FROM NOW BUT MAO'S GACHA CARD CAME OUT??  LOOK AT HIM I! LOVE! HIM! SO! MUCH!?!?!?!? He's an angel I love him... also seeing him as student council pres makes me want to cry a little BECAUSE OUR MAO HAS GROWN UP (I spent all my dia on him and didn't get him anyway... TAT)

Anyway this oneshot takes place in enstars!! so Mao is a 3rd year. Also this is SUPER puppy-love-ish and innocent so disclaimer for some TOOTH-ROTTING FLUFF. As always, enjoyyy <3

You were unsure what your relationship with Mao exactly was.

Since the previous school year, you were always close to him. The two of you did everything together, be it spending lunch together, walking home, or studying. You and Mao were practically together every moment of the day, to the point that people would always find the two of you together.

Of course, you were the best of friends with Mao, the both of you trusted each other and were reliable friends that could depend on each other. Furthermore, the both of you had the similar tendency to overwork yourselves. In the end, your friendship bloomed by the two of you taking care of each other and helping each other out.

As the year passed, a joke started circulating in the idol course that you and Mao were basically the same person. Some would even go as far to tease the two of you and say, "You two should just start dating already!"

At first you and Mao would just laugh it off, but as the joke became more common, you started getting more self-conscious, and you realised you might like him, but you did not want to ruin the current relationship you had with the male. Until one day, on your way back home with him, he confessed.

And of course, since your feelings were mutual, the two of you started dating. However, this was the cause of your dilemma.

The two of you started dating just before your second year ended, and now it was already the summer of your third year, but your relationship with Mao was not progressing at all.

You had not even held his hand before, much less hug him. It just felt... awkward to do anything romantic with someone who used to be your best friend. Furthermore, the both of you felt weird to try and initiate something. 

Nothing seemed to change between the two of you, walking home together and eating lunch together as usual. The only difference now was that since the producer course had its own classrooms now, the two of you would not see each other as much.

Despite that, none of you have said anything about this problem. You were unsure if the two of you were just friends or more.

"Heyyy, you alright there? What're you spacing out for?"

You blink your eyes. You suddenly notice the hand waving in front of you and the voice that called to you. Turning your head to the source of the voice, you find a familiar redhead trying to stifle his laughter.

You realised you were probably caught up in your thoughts as always and Mao was now laughing to himself about it once again.

You puff out your cheeks, lightly slapping his arm, "Stop laughing, hurry up and eat your food."

You grab the bread in Mao's hand, shoving it into his mouth to prevent him from making fun of you any further. Just then, the school bell rang.

"Ah..." you glance at your watch, "We should get going for class, we'll meet as usual outside the Ensemble Square building after your student council work and practice?"
