I couldn't move. There was no way I could move. He was like me.
"H? Is everything alright?" Heather ran down the stairs into the lower storage.
Lowly, the boy in the cage growled. He turned around, his back arched and he prepared to attack.
"Heather! Stay back and don't say another word. Go back to the deck," I ordered while lowering my hands, trying to show him I was not a threat.
He had wild silver hair that flew around his shoulders untamily. He wore basic rags of a shirt, grey and brown in age. The trousers he wore were in a better state but still in deep disrepair. Around his neck was a rope necklace with a dragon scale on the end, it wasn't white like his scales but instead a deep sea blue. He looked about 15 and was too skinny for my liking, he was not treated well at all. He had white spikes going along his spine and down his long white tail which ended with a red tip. He had small white wings peeking out his back and white scales spotted his skin. Something about the dragon feature felt similar but foreign as well. I couldn't place where I had seen such and was more than excited to learn what type of dragon he was mimicking. He had a leather collar tied tightly around his neck with a metal chain keeping him tied to the cage. The same cain was attached to his ankles and wrists, bruises showing under the metal binds. He was decorated head to toe in cut and bruises, it was a miracle none of them were infected.
"Hello there. I am Hiccup, could you tell me your name?" I spoke in dragonese trying to calm the agitated teen.
"Do not speak that tongue!" I jumped back slightly from his harsh norse words. His eyes became red and his spikes stood on edge with every movement he made his chains rattled. "You have no right to speak it! You are dirting our glorious tongue! No Viking should speak our tongue!"
Biting my lip I tried to calm my breathing. "Have others tried to speak our tongue?"
"They wanted me to teach it to them! I will not teach them our tongue!" The teen started to stalk around the cage, getting more and more agitated from our conversation.
"Mum wanted me to teach her, White King didn't want me to, so I didn't, he said Vikings should never know our tongue. They can not cope if they know our tongue. Besides, most humans can not speak our tongue, even those close to the alphas," I explained casually, attempting to ease his nerves. "Could you tell me your name?"
I wasn't expecting him to answer me but it was worth a try, better than calling him the dragon kid for the rest of my life. "They call me project A4. I think my name was Avery, but that was a very long time ago. Who are you? Why are you doing this?!"
I smiled sadly, glad he was calming down. "I told you. I am Hiccup. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, my mum is the dragon thief. I am here to take you away. I want to rescue you."
Avery tilted his head but stepped back. "Why?!"
I let off a small laugh. "Because you are like me. I cannot leave you here."
He gave me a disbelieving look. "You are not like me! You will never be like me!"
I knew he wouldn't believe me if I didn't show him, so I let out my nightfury tails, wings and ears. Scales covering parts of my skin.
He jumped back and away from me causing me to laugh. I decided to try and copy his habits, hoping it would calm him down, and walked on all fours to Avery.
He hesitated before approaching me, meeting me halfway, and sniffing the area around me, using my scent to work out if I told and showed him the truth. I could tell he could smell Nightfury genes and other dragon genes that came of me. He was becoming calmer and more comfortable with me in the room, well cage.
