Chapter 6:

Joker and Robin study the strange key by firelight that their squid had thieved from the clearing, as the sun sets. The group is stopping for the night in a small dip surrounded by the slowly petrifying forests, as traveling in the dark is a sure fire way to get captured by the villains.  Mr. Game and Watch screams and runs around with Fox's gun and Robin;s levin sword, while Fox rushes after him.

A roar echoes through the sky, and the group glances upward to reveal a riderless Rathalos and Ridley soaring into the distance. They don't see the group, which is something to be grateful for.

The strange key is sparking, reacting with the Tabuu shard, and it is almost pointing toward the Halberd, which is lazily flying off to the west. A small white dot glints off the Halberd, which is surely Crazy Hand after he landed from Game and Watch's blast.

Robin nods and scribbles something down in her tome book, while Joker goes off and helps Fox get his gun back. One day has passed since she lost Chrom and Lucina, and she desperately wants to rescue them. The tactician sighes and stares sullenly into the fire the boys had lit up. Joker sits down beside her, and hands her the levin sword, which she accepts.

Fox drags Game and Watch over to the fire, and sits down with everyone else. For a while, everyone just enjoys the silence.

Then their stomachs growl. Robin sighs, as she hasn't eaten anything since she was last with Lucina and Chrom, while Joker mumbles to himself. He hasn't had food since he snuck onto the Halberd, and Fox hasn't eaten at all for the day.

Only Game and Watch doesn't offer anything to the starving conversation. He instead pulls out a 2-D pan and holds it over the fire. He lifts up the pan and offers the flat food to everyone, which they politely decline, since they can't eat them.

The group falls back into silence again, until another loud roaring starts up. It's a car that streaks through the valley below, barreling straight for the Halberd.

Ridley roars and dives onto the Halberd in the sky, while Samus skids to a stop, nearly ramming into Link. She knows that they cannot catch up with him on the ground, which Kirby and Link both understand as well.

Samus turns to the other fighters, open to suggestions. Kirby raises a stub in the air, looking like he wants to pick them both up and float to the Halberd, but the other two are pretty sure that they'd fall before they even reached the ship.

The group falls into silence again, until they hear a slight roar from the distance. Samus looks up, sure it is Ridley, but this noise sounds more mechanical. Link glances behind him, his eyes widen, and he slams Samus and Kirby out of the way. The pink puffball goes flying, and rams into a tree, while Samus slides backward.

A large car with a bird shaped hood zooms by, leaving a trail of melted stone and fire, and screeches to a stop near the fighters. Kirby walks up to the steaming car and rams it with his cutter, as its driver jumps out.

Captain Falcon salutes the group, who wave awkwardly, and he turns around, pulling out two other people in the car with him, the draconian Hero, and Shulk, who wields the Monado.

They don't exactly look like they enjoyed the high speed ride over.

Captain Falcon points to his car and then to the Halberd, implying that he can get the group on the ship and ready to attack.

The other trio glances at each other, and then Samus nods.

Corrin gasps and sits up, pain still rocketing through her body. In her weakened, drained state, she had been wracked with nightmares of a one-winged, black feathered dragon destroying both of her homes.

She looks around at her surroundings, a sparkling palace with clouds lazily floating by and a hot spring sizzling a few feet away from her. Almost sure she is dead, a silent whimper echoes beneath her, and Corrin looks over the side of her cot to see Pikachu shivering in his sleep. She shakes the mouse awake, and he scampers into her arms.

Another groan echoes from across the room, and Pikach and Corrin glance over to see Dark Pit yawning, his feet in the hot spring.

Beside him is the stone Cloud, petrified in the exact same position Sephiroth impaled him in. Pikachu scrambles out of Corrin's grasp and rushes over to the statue, nudging him sadly. The dragon warrior follows him, limping over and sitting down beside Dark Pit, who doesn't say anything.

Footsteps echo through the silent room, and the goddess Palutena steps through the archway, looking more troubled than her eyes revealed. Without a word, she lifts her staff in the air, as it begins to glow with a heavenly light. She gestures to the other three fighters who move out of her way, walks over and touches the gem of her staff to the man's forehead.

The stone recedes from his body, and Cloud coughs, completely back to normal. Pikachu clambers onto his shoulder, and Cloud grumbles, putting the mouse down.

Palutena sighs, and slumps down to the ground, looking like that took everything out of her. Dark Pit glances over at her, and stands up, pulling out his silver bow. He snaps it in half, ready for a fight.

They need to form a plan of attack, and Corrin jumps to her feet, with Pikachu right beside her. However, Cloud just crosses his arms, and says nothing, something else on his mind.

Palutena stands back up and waves her staff once more, creating a glowing map of the entire land in the air. She knows that the villains have almost every key, and they are ever closer to unlocking the glade.

And then, there would be no hope for them.
