Beware, slight gore (I think, I don't really know what counts as gore)
Onwards!
Edit: I fixed the chapter name finally.
----
Grian soared over the ocean swiftly. As he flew he admired the beauty of the water, it's shimmering surface and clear blue allowing him to see the fish swimming together down below.
The ocean quickly changed, getting shallower and warmer until he was flying over a coral reef, marveling at the bright colours and beautiful formations of the coral, he spottedc a couple of pufferfish, and other varieties of tropical fish he recognised from pictures in a book he'd found in the library in his parents' house.
He'd never seen how beautiful the sea was in person.
Abruptly, the coral reef stopped and land began, Grian noticed this a little too late and ended up flying straight into the branches of a tree, getting slightly tangled, as well as a face full of leaves, but thankfully uninjured.
Grian quickly detangled himself from the tree, hopped down and stepped back, looking around. He was on the border of an oak forest, pretty normal, he was stood on the strip of land between the beach and the trees where the grass was just about growing on sand, he looked from left to right, along the beach, seeing forest each way he looked, he decided the best way to go would be forward, so that's the way he went, deeper into the forest.
The forest was beautiful, Grian could easily say he liked nature a lot, he enjoyed the way it made its own patterns on the leaves, the way the leaves broke up the sunlight so it dappled on the ground, he looked around him as he walked, enjoying the peace of the forest.
He realised, walking through the forest, how much he enjoyed the peace and quiet, it was something hard to find on the main island, even with a group as small as 20, there was always something going on, always someone around,
This was a new feeling, being entirely alone, Grian enjoyed it. He knew he wouldn't like it constantly, he loved talking to the hermits and causing mischief, but sometimes, occasionally, it was nice to be alone.
----
As Grian made his way slowly through the forest, still admiring nature and basking in the calm atmosphere he started coming across things he was pretty sure weren't normal.
He didn't take note of them at first, as they were only small things, an arrow symbol scratched into a tree as a sort of marker, or an arrow stuck in the ground as if someone had missed their target.
However soon enough the signs of Someone having been here got more obvious. The stump of a tree left uncut, even a pool of water with carrots and potatoes growing around it. Even a fence post in the ground. That was the final thing that caused him to wonder, who lived here? And where were they now?
It was, of course, possible that it was one of the hermits who’d set up a remote base here, but Grian doubted that, due to the lack of structure and the simplicity of everything he’d found so far.
If it wasn’t a hermit, who was it? Was the next question Grian pondered as he walked slowly, It could be a human, who’d stumbled in here, but no, Xisuma’s magic kept them out, then who!?
Grian searched his mind for an answer, he was completely lost in thought.
He wasn’t looking where he was going.
Tripping over something on the ground, something sharp and flat, most likely a stone, Grian fell. He stuck his hands out to catch himself on the ground, but the ground wasn’t there.
His eyes grew focused again, and he knew that he was falling, and fast, down a narrow, deep cave with jagged stone walls and pitch blackness at the bottom.
He was slow to react as he opened his wings, in a dazed state of panic.
His wings being as large as they are, they both reached the opposite cave walls as he fell, his right wing snagging painfully on the rocks, leaving a long, jagged, zigzag cut all the way down it. He felt blood splatter his wing, attempting to fly now was no use.
He brought his wings closer to his body, so he didn’t damage to other one, right as he hit the floor.
Landing on his feet, his knees buckled, he felt the bones in both of his ankles snap painfully from the impact, he let out a scream of pain as he collapsed onto the ground, his wing throbbed, his ankles were screaming in pain, as if they were set on fire.
Grian cried out weakly from pain and fear as he heard something.
The rattle of bones in the dark, the moan of a zombie, the whooshing sound of an arrow passing over his head.
Grian screamed an inhuman sounding shriek of pain as another arrow pierced his arm, which he had just brought up to protect his face, in which the arrow would have been embedded if he hadn’t.
Tears streamed down his face as his vision cut in and out due to the pain, though when he could see it was blurry, in the daze he heard someone hitting the floor beside him, the clash of a sword, the skeleton being slain.
He felt someone lift him up, a firm hand behind his shoulders and another under his legs, he felt movement as he was carried, his injured wing hit the floor repeatedly, causing repeated stabs of pain to course through his body,
After a few minutes of being carried, Grian fully blacked out from the pain, he had been trying so hard to stay awake, but he couldn't and fInally, in the mystery persons arms, he fell asleep.

Hehe.
I wonder who this mystery person is.
Hope you enjoyed
