Today April 15th 2020 would
be Steve Randle's 72nd birthday!• You and Sodapop went to Steve's house early in the morning, 7 to be exact, to wake Steve up for his big day.
• To be fair, you didn't exactly wake up at 7 that morning..
• You went to the Curtis house at 4:30 in the morning to help Darry and Soda bake a chocolate cake.
• You guys knew Steve would want chocolate cake for breakfast.
• You and Soda woke Steve by running into his room screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!"
• Steve must have thought you guys were robbers or something at first because he started to reach for his blade in his bedside drawer.
• But when he realized it was you two he was so excited!
• You went in to give Steve a hug, in the midst of your hug Steve pulled away..
• "You smell like cake."
• "Hm.. I wonder why Randle" you laughed back at him.
• You and Soda went back into Steve's living room making small talk for what seemed like forever (more like 45 minutes) with Steve's father.
• On the way to the Curtis house you asked Steve what took him so long to get ready, it usually only took him around 15 minutes to get ready.
• "I'm a complicated guy y/n" Steve winked at you.
• "No he's not y/n, he was probably greasing his hair and dancing to Elvis in the bathroom. I've walked in on him a few times doing that. I've even seen him using a hairbrush as a microphone!" Soda responded.
• Steve looked flustered for a second, then continued on with his cocky self until you got to the Curtis house.
• When you guys got to the Curtis house all of the lights were out and there was an abnormal silence.
• As soon as you turned on the living room light though "SURPRISE" and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE" filled the air.
• Steve was so excited to see the faces of all his close friends on his birthday.
• Company gathered throughout the Curtis' living room and dining room eating cake and chatting about old times.
• As the morning went on the gang began to separate.
• Darry had to go to work, same with Soda. Tim and Dally had to go find some mischief to get into.
• So it was just you, Steve, Two-bit, Johnny, and Pony left.
• You guys went to the dingo for lunch.
• Two-bits mom who was your waitress comped Steve's meal because she knew it was his birthday.
• And Two-bit and Ponyboy scream-sung the happy birthday song to Steve in your booth while you and Johnny ducked out of embarrassment.
• The whole dining room stared in shock at the two teenage boys singing.
• Eventually Two-bits mom came up to you guys and asked you all (very politely too) to leave, Pony and Two we're making the business look bad (which is really bad that you can make even the Dingo look bad).
• After you guys left the Dingo Steve decided he wanted to go bowling.
• You'd dated a guy who worked as a manager there for a little bit so you guys ended up getting your trip comped there too.
• Steve won with Johnny a close second, everyone else did pretty poorly.
• Ponyboy had to put the bumpers on and he still couldn't ever get more than 3 pins down at a time.
• Two-bit was just plain too drunk at that point to even know how to bowl. He even ended up throwing the ball in the lane next to yours.
• And you.. well your not too good at bowling.
• You guys were in the bowling alley so long, you didn't even realize the time until they started closing up.
• It was when they were cleaning counters and putting up chairs that Johnny suggested y'all might ought to get out of there.
• You guys left the bowling alley and headed back to the Curtis house.
• The other guys were there when you arrived, they were excited to see you guys and wanted to hang.
• You, Two-bit, Johnny, Steve, and Pony all sat on the couch talking to Dallas, Darry, and Soda and one by one you each fell asleep (tiredness from such a long day) within the course of 20 minutes.
