five years. it has been five years since senior year has ended. five years when everyone has gone to their separate ways.

Kourtney, Carlos, and Seb have gone to New York, building a fashion empire and booked in different broadway gigs respectively. Big Red and Ashlyn have decided to get engaged and get settled in another city in Utah while EJ and Gina are staying in Chicago.

On the other hand, Ricky and Nini have not been in speaking terms since. They broke up during the summer before college, with Ricky attending UCLA and Nini in Juilliard, it was complicated, so they decided to call it quits. Now, they are both successful and thriving in the music and acting industry respectively in Los Angeles.

One morning, Nini checked her phone and all the notifications just kept flooding, until she saw one message that stood out. It was from Kourtney, saying that the whole theatre gang is planning a reunion that will happen in Salt Lake. She was so ecstatic that finally after five years, she would reconnect with her old friends, but then it hit her. Shit. that means Ricky would probably be there too.

She decided to still go to the reunion despite the circumstances. She also needed to visit her mothers as well, so it was like saying the universe was pushing her to go. She tried to clear her schedule and booked a flight back to Salt Lake. Her mothers picked her up from the airport, happy to see their daughter again.

She found herself sitting down in her old childhood bedroom. It still looked the same, with fairy lights hanging in the wall, and her hanging egg chair was still there, reminiscing the times she sat there writing songs. Nini then stumbled into an white old box. I was filled with high school memorabilia, mostly polaroid pictures with her and Ricky. She started tearing up, thinking that she was still in love with him all these years.

Nini drove to the restaurant, where the gathering was happening. She was kinda surprised that everyone was there already, including Ricky.

"Hey, Nini is here, finally!" Kourtney exclaims.

She said hi to everyone and moving over to the side to catch up with Ashlyn, Gina, and Kourtney.

"ok guys, ill run to the bathroom for a sec."

When Nini left, the three girls started mumbling some things.

"Ricky and Nini are still not talking to each other?" Ashlyn asks.

"Yeah, it has been five years." Kourtney says.

"Well, it's kinda obvious they still haven't moved on." Gina exclaims.

It's true, they haven't moved on. Sure, they have dated and seen other people during their college years, but none of their flings or relationships felt right.

After running to the bathroom, she sees everyone sitting down. She sees one vacant chair next to Ricky.

"sorry Nini, all the seats are taken, you can sit next to Ricky." Gina smiles.

"I'm gonna kill all of you." Nini mouths to the girls and they giggle.

After hours of eating, laughter and reminiscing high school memories. Ashlyn invites everyone for another party in her old home.

They all sat in the living room chatting and talking about what they have been up to now.

"So, how's life going for you guys? Seb and I have been booked for different broadway gigs in New York and we couldn't be happier." Carlos says in an exciting tone.

"My dance studio has been doing pretty well in Chicago and I'm so glad EJ is always there to support me." Gina giggles, while holding EJ's hand.

"Well, Ash and I are engaged! We hope to see you at the wedding." Big Red shouts and everyone cheers and congratulates the newly engaged couple.

"I'm still in New York, pursuing fashion and I'm happy how things are going." Kourtney says. "What about you two?" referring to Ricky and Nini.

The two stared at each awkwardly until Ricky spoke.

"Uhm, well, I'm writing and producing my music in LA." Ricky says.

Nini was shocked. She didn't know that he was settled in in LA.

"Yeah, your new song hit the billboard charts right bro?" Red asks.

"haha ya." Ricky says shyly and everyone cheers again.

"What about you, Nini?" Big Red asks.

"I'm currently working on a movie right now. It's amazing. It's set to premiere in 3 months." she says and everyone congratulates her.

They decided to still talk about their lives until Ricky excuses himself to get a drink. Nini comes along as well, since she wanted one too.

"Hey."

"Hi"

"wow, five years huh?" Ricky says.

"ya, wow."

The two stood there in awkward silence in the kitchen, sipping their root beer, until Ricky talks.

"congrats on your new movie, by the way, I'm proud of you." Ricky says.

"and congrats to you as well for your new single. proud of you too." Nini chuckles.

"why is this so hard? we can't even look at each other in the eye or have a decent conversation."

"ha, well things didn't go well, the last time we talked." Nini laughs nervously. "We were in love for so long, maybe that's why."

"well, are you?" Ricky asks.

"are you what?"

"still in love with me?"

this is gonna be the first one-shot that will have multiple parts to it so stay tuned.
