don't give up on me

note: will be written in ricky's pov

everything felt surreal and i was filled with genuine joy. i was walking over to the living room and staring at the photos that were displayed there. i still couldn't believe it. three short months ago, i married my best friend, my greatest adventure, the love of my life and just my everything. nini salazar-roberts.

my train of thought was suddenly interrupted when i feel a pair of arms wrap around my body. i immediately turn around and smile. "morning, baby. happy three month anniversary. i love you." she says and i respond by giving her a kiss on the lips. "i love you more. here's to three months of marriage."

she then pulls me to the kitchen, saying that she cooked a special breakfast for the two of us. as we walk in, the smell of chocolate pancakes was evident and i smile even more. "babe, you didn't have to."

nini kisses me on the cheek, "no. i wanted to do this. you said you got the whole night planned for the two of us, so let me do whatever i can for us this morning ok?" she says and i just nod.

we sat and ate at the kitchen counter, talk and laugh about the old days. she got too excited when she ate a big bite of her pancake and some whipped cream was smeared all over her face. i insisted to clean it for her but instead i leaned in to kiss it right out of her face and she just giggled at my gesture. then we got to the topic talking about our careers. briefly, before we got married, i was signed to one of the biggest record labels in the music industry and now, i am set to release an album soon, so i've been working on that. on the other hand, nini put up a school to teach kids the basics of acting and now, she's got over 100 students attending. i'm so proud of her on what she has accomplished.

after eating, she washes the dishes and sets it out in dryer while i help her clean the kitchen counter. we settle in the living room to watch one of her favorite rom com movies on netflix. i watched her as she laughed and cried at most of the scenes. i wasn't really focusing on the movie, i was focusing at the beautiful girl sitting right next to me. she notices and quickly pauses the film. "why aren't you watching? my favorite part is coming up." she says.
"well, there's something better for me to watch and that's you." i say and i see her bright smile take over her face. "god, can you stop being so cheesy?" she chuckles but i didn't reply. instead, i connect our lips together. a quick kiss kinda turned into a make out session until she pulls back saying that she is needed in her acting school in the afternoon. although, she assured me that she will be back in time for our anniversary dinner and she gives me another kiss.

during the time when nini was gone, i was busy setting up for our dinner. i cooked her favorite pasta and prepared as well her favorite salad. after cooking, i bring out the dishes and wine glasses from the cabinet and i begin to set up the table. i run to our room to grab my present for her. it was this beautiful smile pendant that i knew she wanted for a long time. i also got her a ring that has a stone and when you look closely to it, it says "i love you" in 100 different languages.

while waiting for her, i was in the living room busy producing my new album until i got a call from one of nini's moms, carol. i pick up the phone and my heart just froze upon hearing her mothers' words. "r-ricky, it's n-nini. she's been in an accident. you have to come to the hospital right now. i'll text you the address."

i grab my car keys and wallet and rush to my car. as soon as i got to the hospital, i run to the nurse's desk, asking her where nini is.when i got her room number, i ran as fast as i can, dodging all the doctors and nurses in the hallways. when i was almost in the room, i was greeted by carol, dana and all our friends who were outside.

i immediately run to our friends and they all give me a hug. i approach carol and dana to ask them what happened and carol answers me. "she was driving home then this drunk driver didn't see the stoplight and she got hit pretty badly." as i hear the story, i couldn't help but tear up. i immediately wipe my tears when the doctor comes up to all of us. "hi, are you family members of nina salazar-roberts?" dana replies. "i'm dana and this is my wife carol. we're her mothers and this is ricky, her husband." the doctor shakes our hands and says, "well i am dr. masterson and i was the one who checked on nina. i think it's time we go inside her room."
