You were released from the hospital two days later as promised. Your nurse gave you a friendly yet sad smile as you slowly walked out of the fronts doors. You were still sore but the doctors said that was normal. They also gave you a proscription for some extra strength pain killers to help too.
You stood waiting outside for your sister to pick you up so she could drive you home for some more rest. After about a half hour of waiting patiently you whipped out your phone to text your older sister. You asked her where she was and what was taking so long. Almost immediately she replied saying that she was called into work for overtime. She apologized like crazy saying she'd make it up to you. You sighed and told her it okay and that you'd ride the bus home. She said okay and again apologized. You told her bye and put your phone away.
You picked up your bag of belongings and started to walking towards the nearest bus stop. You weren't angry with your sister. You loved her more than anything and understood what she had to do in order to let you guys survive. After a you were still too young to get a job and you were kind of just dumped on her doorstep without any warning.
Wrapped up in your thoughts you completely walked past the bus stop but when you realized if you really didn't care, you hadn't really liked buses or any form of public transportation anyway. You decided to keep walking until you got home then you would take a much needed nap.
You started thinking about everything you needed to catch up on and ended up lost in your thoughts. You were so caught up in them you didn't noticed the sidewalk had a very large bump in the middle of it causing you to trip and fall.
You landed with a very loud thud against the concrete. On top of that all your belongings when in all different directions. A part of you just wanted lie there and never wanted to get up but the more sensible side pulled you up and made you gather everything.
Groaning you continued home and when you got inside you headed straight for your room. Flinging your bag onto your bean bag chair you flopped onto your bed and reached for your phone to tell your sister you made it home. Only when you went to feel in your pocket it wasn't there. Shooting straight up, you raced over to your bag dumping everythignout onto the floor. When you saw it wasn't there you started to freak. 'Oh God. Oh god.' kept replaying your head. You couldn't have lost it not now. Groaning in frustration you flopped back onto your queen sized mattress on the verge of tears. "First the alley, then the hospital, and now this? Why do you hate me so much?" you yelled to yourself. You knew exactly where it was but figur d by the time you got back to where you tripped it be gone.
You laid there wishing it was some sick joke but you knew it wasn't. Just as you were about to get and look for your phone anyway you heard a light tapping at your window. You swiveled you head to see. .how do you describe it? You guessed you call it and it. It waved to you and awkwardly you waved back not knowing what to do. You were astonished honestly. It was huge, muscular and green. It resembled a turtle but not a turtle at the same time. Whatt struck you badly was that it had ocean blue eyes and a blue mask almost the same color. You stared and it stares back until you realized that this must be the thing that saved you. It hit you like a ton of bricks and the curiosity washed over you. Without thinking you ran over to the window and open it. Once again you stared and didn't utter a word. Your eyes were as big as saucers and your mouth hung open slightly.
You reached your (s/c) hand out to touch it. It flinched away as if it were scared of you. You softened your gaze and spoke in the most gentle voice you could muster. "Um...hi." It stared but didn't speak, 'Well this is getting awkward' you thought to yourself. It cleared its throat and spoke, "Uh..hi." , you could tell he was a male by the voice. Biting back a smile you simply asked what he was doing here. Stuttering he said ," Y-you dropped t-this." and he pulled out your phone. Your eyes widened and you let out a squeal and tackled him in a hug almost sending you both out the window.
You thanked him over and over again. Finally composing yourself, you gave him a half smile and gave him a sincere thank you. "No problem, its my duty to help pretty girls in distress." You blushed madly for some reason. He realized he just said and facepalmed hard. Seeing his reaction you giggled. 'What the? Since when do I giggle?' you thought.
Shaking the thought you mustered up enough courage to ask him his name, if he had one. When you did your voice came out much higher than you wanted, he smiled and gently said "Leonardo but please call me Leo ma'am." Playfully scowling, "Don't call me ma'am. I'm not even 16 yet." His smile grew at your sassiness and you coughed awkwardly.
You both sat there in silence for a bit before yawning. He looked at you and knew you were exhausted. He shooed you into bed somehow and got you to sleep. He took a minute and admired how you looked. Then he made a decision that wasn't so wise. He took your phone and added himself as a contact then left just like that.
