Donatello's POV

It had been three days since he had watched (Y/N) on the rooftop and since then he has locked himself away in his lab. All three of his brothers and his sensei has tried nonstop to get him to come out but every time, he shooed them away, trying to assure them that he was fine. They knew all too well that he was lying but decided it would be best not to pry.

Now  he stood slumped over his lab table, the purple clad teen's mind was running wild with thoughts. The bags under his eyes were a dead give away that he hadn't slept in days but at the moment he didn't care. He was too busy trying to think this through. The teen genius wanted to talk to (Y/n) about what he was feeling but he knew his heart couldn't take another rejection and if she did reject him; he also didn't want to ruin their friendship in the process. Right now Donnie was fighting an internal battle and he didn't know which side he was rooting for. He was about to give up and lie down to try and get some rest when his T-Phone started ringing. Right away he knew it was (Y/n), because of the custom ringtone he set for her. He picked up his phone and smiled at the her contact picture, which was her reading a book. It seems simple and plain but the look on her face and how she was lost in the book made her look so beautiful in his opinion. Snapping back to reality rather quickly, he answered her call.

"DONATELLO HAMATO WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, I HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU," (Y/n) sounded like a mother. All Donnie did was chuckle to himself and shake his head lightly. Even when she was yelling at him like she was now, (Y/n) somehow warmed his very core. Though he was exhausted, the teenage reptile let (Y/n) carry on about how worried she was and the caring and empty threats that she was making if he ever did something like this again. All the while he stood there with a gapped tooth grin, not even listening to the words she was saying, but listening to her voice which he hadn't heard in days. Jumping back into reality, Donnie cut (Y/n)'s lecture short.

"Listen, I apologize for sorta disappearing on you. I've had a lot on my mind and it's been stressing me out. And don't worry I wasn't in any danger or trouble. I just stayed in my lab, thinking a bit." Though he knew she couldn't see him, the purple clad teen was blushing madly. The other end of the line was silent for a minute, then came (Y/n)'s voice, this time completely soft and gentle. He could still hear the worry in her voice but now there was a great deal of concern laced into her words. "Donnie, is everything alright? I know I can't do much but I'll do anything to help you if I can. I'm here for you. You know this, right?"

Now it was Donnatello's turn to be silent. He didn't know what to say or do. So many things were racing through his mind and heart. His mind was telling him to make up some lie to tell her so he would have more time to think this through. His heart on the other hand was telling him the exact opposite. Now was the perfect time. Giving him plenty of reasons too, from the way she stared off into space and her eyes would look so beautiful to way she would hum or sing when she thought she was by herself. Donnie thought she was perfect in every single way possible. She was gorgeous, funny, intelligent, unique, the list goes on and on. His train of thought was derailed when he heard (Y/n) speak again. "You..you really think all of that about me?" Her voice was small and he could tell that she was blushing almost as madly as he was. He literally slapped himself. Donnie had no idea that he said any of that out loud just now. Now it was time for him to man up a little and follow his heart.

"Yeah, I do." Unfortunately, that's all the reptile could get out. Everything he wanted to say was caught in his throat and he couldn't push them out for anything. Now between both ends there was dead silence. Donnatello was horrified as to what the other teen was thinking at this point. He was freaking out, on the verge of a full blown panic attack. Now there were so many things trying to come out at once it was unbelievable, he was now a stuttering mess. He was pleading in his mind for his mouth to say anything, so long as it was the truth.  Internallly  he was searching for  enough words to form a sentence that would make since and hopefully make things better. In the end, he found seven words he thought he would never have the courage to ask.

"(Y/n), will you go out with me?" With his eyes squeezed shut, he waited for an answer from the other end.
