"Be very, very quiet." Taehyung whispered, standing from the floor of his hotel room to answer the door.
You nodded, moving your thumb and index finger across your mouth to gesture that your lips were sealed. Although you were only hanging out, people could easily misunderstand why you were in Kim Taehyung's hotel room at eleven p.m. on a Sunday night.
It was admittedly a dumb risk to take, but you had been so homesick lately and desperate for company to distract yourself from how much you missed your friends, family, dog...and Jungkook. Though you were his makeup artist, you had considered him a good friend, which wasn't all that strange since BTS were close to most of their staff members. But unfortunately, at some point, things began to feel different with Jungkook. You allowed yourself to develop feelings and even began to suspect that he reciprocated them. You knew that neither of you would be able to act on those feelings, at least not while you were employed at Big Hit, but that didn't stop you from thinking about him constantly like a lovesick schoolgirl.
However, recently, your bubble was burst, and you learned that it was time to stop indulging in such silly unprofessional fantasies. Though Jungkook never discussed other girls with you, you heard through the grape vine of staff that the maknae was actually "talking" to multiple female idols right now.
Truthfully, it wasn't any of your business and you had no right to be angry with him. It's not his fault that you interpreted innocent flirting as something more. But you still couldn't help but feel disappointed and a little stupid for thinking you were special to a guy who apparently just enjoys reveling in the attention of many women.
Ever since, you began distancing yourself from Jungkook. It was hard since you could see that he was clearly hurt and maybe even jealous because of your actions, but it was something you had to do. He may miss your attention, but you were sure he had plenty of other girls who could take your place. He would be fine soon enough and you could finally stop giving your heart to someone who was probably only using it to boost his own ego anyways.
You were just glad that you had Yeontan and Taehyung to hang out with since touring could get pretty lonely, especially since you were the youngest staff member and often got left out of things. The only issue was that Jungkook clearly wasn't a fan of this new friendship and still managed to occasionally sabotage your attempts to get over him by pushing his way into your social life and making your heart flutter, just like he did last night.
Thankfully, tonight, the rain prevented the three of you from being able to walk together again. So, instead, Taehyung texted you half an hour ago to see if you wanted to hang out in his room, and of course you couldn't say no to more Yeontan cuddles.
"What's up?" Taehyung casually asked whoever was on the other side of the door.
You felt a wave of relief when you heard Jimin's tired voice as opposed to management or Jungkook. "I need to borrow your toothpaste."
Taehyung sighed in exasperation, annoyed that Jimin kept forgetting to pack his own. "Okay, just wait here." He said, walking away to retrieve his toothpaste from the bathroom.
Jimin paid no mind to the instruction and stuck his head in through the cracked door. "Yeontan." He whispered, trying to find the dog to keep him entertained while he waited.
Yeontan perked up in your arms but didn't jump out. "Tannie." Jimin called a little louder, taking a few steps into the room until you were in full view.
"Y/N?" His brows furrowed in confusion.
You smiled and waved awkwardly. "Hello."
