Jimin's eyes widened as he chewed his first bite of steak. "Wow, Hyung," He began to compliment the oldest member, but paused to stick another piece in his mouth. "This is really delicious."
"Yah, Jimin, don't talk with your mouth full. There's a lady present." Hoseok scolded, nodding in your direction.
Jimin merely rolled his eyes, earning a glare from Hoseok. "But it's so good."
"It is really good, Hyung." Namjoon said, attempting to divert attention from the intense staring contest taking place across the table. "We've been missing these meals ever since you moved out."
It took a great deal of self-restraint for you to not roll your own eyes when you looked over to see the way Seokjin's face lit up with pride. Usually you would be happy to see him so satisfied with himself. However, presently, you couldn't help but resent the way he made you feel like a complete nuisance half an hour ago all because of a piece of meat.
"Is yours good?" Jin asked, turning to you and resting his hand on your forearm. "It's not overcooked is it?"
"Nope. It's perfect." You forced a smile, discreetly slipping your arm out from under his gentle touch.
It annoyed you that he began acting as if nothing happened as soon as he tried the first piece of steak and realized it was fine a few minutes before the boys arrived. You thought it was understandable for him to be stressed and disappointed about having possibly messed up a special meal he was looking forward to cooking and serving, but you didn't appreciate how he didn't even acknowledge what he said or how he treated you.
Maybe you were being oversensitive. It was certainly a possibility. Afterall, this was the first time he's ever behaved this way. It was just strange for you since until now, your relationship has always been in a nice protective bubble. Everything you guys did together was just the two of you and you never really got to see the way Seokjin's mood and attitude could be affected by minor stressors like hosting a dinner for friends. You supposed it was fairly normal for couples to take their frustrations out on each other just as he did, but that didn't mean you liked it. Especially considering the fact that he did it at a time when he knew you were anxious and could use a little extra support.
Ironically, being less anxious was one thing you had to thank Seokjin for this evening. Throughout dinner, as the four members carried on laughing and telling stories, your thoughts were too preoccupied with your boyfriend to be worrying about what Namjoon, Hoseok, and Jimin were thinking about you. You of course put in the effort to smile as they talked and occasionally spoke when they made an effort to include you in their conversation, but other than that, your mind remained on how you were going to confront Seokjin.
When dinner finally wrapped up, you were half tempted to follow Namjoon and his homies to the Seoul Town Road, leaving all the dirty dishes behind for Seokjin to clean up by himself. However, you resisted and remained loyally at his side waving goodbye to the younger members.
As soon as Seokjin stepped forward to lock the front door behind Hoseok, you silently walked away to begin washing dishes. You were a bit of a coward when it came to confrontation and you still weren't sure how you wanted to bring up the issue from earlier. At this point, you weren't too deeply hurt by his words since after giving yourself time to think, you realized there was no way he actually thinks you're annoying and clingy...at least not all the time. The man's far too clingy himself to criticize you for such behavior. Nevertheless, whether he meant it or not, you were still frustrated by the fact that he carelessly spoke to you like that and you knew it wouldn't be good for your relationship if you let that frustration fester.
