prom pt. 1

"... class 3-A!" present mic called for your class and the strutting began. individually, your classmates walked forward to their seats, all looking fashionable and of course, charming. finally it was your turn. you're wearing a [pick ur dress] with your hair half up in a bun. you confidently walked down the red carpet. you took your time to look around, pleased that the school abided the theme: ethereal. soon enough, your class was done and he other classes were called. your ears didn't pick up other words after.

"... with this, tonight, we welcome you to the annual yuuei ball," midnight spoke with a smile. she was wearing a red halter dress that has its back open up to the waist. people clapped for her and the night began.

it started with all of you eating food served in front of you as your class occupied one long table made by cementos. you all chatted freely and a few loud laughs were heard here and there. as the time ran out, the tables disappeared and the dancing started.

you sat at the chairs lined up along the sides and sighed. you didn't bother picking up a date. truthfully, your class didn't pick up dates. however, most of them were popular and known around the school so they didn't have any trouble in getting dancing partners. you didn't like the attention but at times like this, you could only sigh in a lonely way as you watched them dance.

just then you spotted girls crowding over your guy classmates. for bakugo, you knew he liked the spotlight so him dancing away with three girls all at the same time was expected.

that didn't mean it didn't bother you and your bleeding heart.

kirishima took his time dancing with different girls, ever the gentleman. you saw him talking with girls respectfully, with distance and no appropriate touching.

you're proud of him, on how manly he looks, but looking at him made you look back to unpleasant memories.

and lastly, todoroki, your childhood friend. you looked in their group to not see him. you looked for him on midoriya's too but you didn't spot him. just then someone tapped your shoulder. "y/n, would you like to dance with me?" shoto was there, standing and offering his hand to you. you smiled at him warmly and nodded, accepting his hand.

"where did you go?" you asked him as he took you to the dance floor. he was clasping your hand while the other was placed on your waist. you tenderly placed your free hand on his shoulder. "i was hiding from the girls," he murmured just enough for you to pick it up. you chuckled. "i also was looking for you," he looked away with a blush. even with the dim lights, you noticed. you blushed in response. "i was thinking of staying at the sides because well, obviously, i don't like crowds. if i go there alone, too much social interaction, you know?" you rambled and he nodded. "i agree. it was tiring to be alone but i didn't want to dance with girls that are stranger to me," he sighed, looking back to you. "also, you look really pretty tonight," he smiled as he complimented you, lighting up his facial features and waking up butterflies in your tummy. "and you look handsome too but we all know that already," you flashed him a teasing smile. "i could say the same to you," matching your smile with an amused one. "that i look handsome?" you questioned and he rolled his eyes playfully and pouting. "why did i even bother," he murmured. it made you laugh. "in all honesty though," he looked at you as he pulled you closer to him. surprised, you didn't move as you almost clashed with his chest. "you look prettier than any girl i've ever seen here, and i mean it," he whispered. you blushed, shades darker and let him dance with you in that position for the next few songs.

both of you danced up to three songs together, laughing comfortably and getting to know each other until a voice cut in. "todoroki," bakugo softly called.

"may i have her for the next song?"
