vi. the arrival

i packed some clothes into my luggage with music playing lightly. i couldnt help but feel like im doing the wrong thing. last night my father felt even worse from what i told him, he of course told me to try to finish high school earlier so i could go to college and afterwards to find a job i want in case mattia or i couldnt go through with the marriage.

i then hear a buzz come from my phone so i quickly answered it and saw that it was oaklynn.
"hey oak," i placed my phone on my shoulder and held it between my ear and shoulder.
"hey tate! nessa and i are done packing, are you done?" she asked, before i answered i heard a boy's voice.
"oaklynn, who is there with you?" i asked.
"um, why would you ask that?" she sarcastically asked. "oaklynn, i swear who are you talking to,"
"fine, it's alejandro," just as she said his name his said a quick hi.
"hey, are you in california?" i asked as to why he was with oaklynn.
"no im in jersey but im on facetime," he added.

after of talking to alejandro and oaklynn i finished packing and got ready to go the airport. i put on a white nike hoodie with some plain black sweatpants. i took my luggage downstairs and saw my dad on his phone while watching the news.
" hey dad, im leaving now," i said sitting next to him.
"be careful, okay? and dont forget to try and get some school during your free time," he reminded me.

i left the house and waited for anthony and avani to pick me up. once they got here, they came out to help me with my bag and gave them a hug.
"so are you ready for playlist?" avani asked excited.
"yea, duh," i responded sarcastically.
"im excited but we only going to be their for two days because then we are going to the bahamas," anthony said.

"dang, why y'all didn't invite me," i pouted with a laugh. we laughed and talked for bit until we got to the airport. we met up with the rest of the sway boys, including oaklynn and nessa. we went through security and met up with some members from the hype house. i got introduced to dixie, ondreas, and nick. we got on our plane and took out seats. i had to seat in the center, so i was between oaklynn and nick.

right after the plane took off oaklynn put in her air pods and went to sleep, leaving nick and i alone.
"so you are also going to the bahamas?" i asked nick.
"yea, i kinda dont want to go though," he sighed as he unbuckled his seat belt.
"why? its the bahamas!" i squealed.
"im not gonna be at playlist for long," he smiled.

we talked alittle more until we got notified that we were fifteen minutes away. "wait, arent you dating mattia," he recalled.
"yea," i sighed. i didnt really realized i sighed until he asked me what was wrong.
"nothing," i assured him.
"you sure, 'cause it dont seem like nothing," he replied.
"im sure of it," i smiled back.

once we got off the plane, we went straight to baggage claim and i decided to wait for the alejandro, kairi, and mattia to get off their plane. everyone else went to the hotel to check in for rooms. i sat on the bench while on my phone, i then felt a tap on my shoulder. i quickly got up when i saw mattia. i gave him a quick hug then went to go hug alejandro and kairi.

"so how was the plane ride," i asked as i grabbed my luggage and the boys following me to my uber.
"it was fine, i was the one that had to sit in the middle," kairi replied glaring at mattia and alejandro. alejandro, kairi and i have been getting to know each other, but i did notice that the whole time mattia was on his phone which had me upset because i waited for him at the airport while all my friends got the rest that i needed.

once we got to the hotel, mattia and i went to our room that we would be sharing with kairi and alejandro during playlist. once we got settled, mattia, the boys and i made a few tiktoks until i got a text from a groupchat i was added into.
