xix. the 'lovers'

it had now been a whole week since mattia has left and we basically talked to each other everyday. but right now i was getting ready to pick him and alejandro from the airport. kairi had to do something so he had to come to california two to three days late.

i woke up at one in the morning because i had to pick up mattia and alejandro at 2:30. i put on a cropped hoddie on top of my tank top and i had already put on black sweatpants before bed. i placed my hair into a messy bun and slipped into my white vans and went straight to my car.

by the time i got to the airport, it was already 2:43 am. i searched for mattia and alejandro in order to park. once i found them, i quickly parked the car and got out to hug mattia.

"hey," mattia mumbled into my ear as he held me in his arms.
"ok lovers, im really tired," alejandro interrupted yawning.
i let go of mattia and gave alejandro a hug. we put the luggage in the trunk and left the airport. alejandro sat in the back to take a nap as mattia sat in front with me.

"so.. how was the flight?" i asked.
"it was okay. i missed you though," he smiled looking
towards me.
"well, it may be very surprising to say but i missed you as well," i smiled at him taking my eyes off of the road for a second to look into his eyes.
"so how was decorating the house?" he asked putting on music, but you could hardly hear it.
"it was okay. i managed to finish by the help of kayden and jules," i said.

once we got to the house, we were able to get all the luggage and alejandro to sleep on the couch. i led mattia towards our room with his hand in mine.
"im going to take a nap. care to join?" mattia asked yawning.
"sure, why not?" i replied slipping off my shoes and laying
down with mattia.

"good morning lovers!" alejandro's voice chimed as i felt like i was being held like a child. then out of nowhere a huge beam of light landed on my eyes which made me groan and dug my head into mattia's neck.
"go dumbass," mattia yelled but came out as a whisper.
"ok geez," i heard alejandro say then i heard the door close.

then, i felt mattia's huge hands land on my back and started to move up and down slowly.
"good morning, tater," mattia whispered kissing my forehead.
"good morning, mater," i replied getting up, so now im straddling his waist.
"i didnt mean to wake you."
"oh, you didnt but your ass of a friend did," i laughed getting out of bed and taking my hair down from the bun and ran my fingers through.

"cmon. ale is probably gonna come in here again and complain. and i have to go grocery shopping," i remembered.
"ugh, fine. ill be out there in a minute," he replied sitting up.
"ok, dont be long."
"wait." mattia said getting off the bed quickly and made me turn around by grabbing my arm.
"you forgot my 'welcome home' gift" he whispered.
"oh um-" i started but then got cut off by his lips
engulfing mine.

he deepened the kiss by pulling waist closer to him. we pulled away once we ran out of air.
"ill see you downstairs," was all he said as he gave me a peck on my lips then left to go to the bathroom.
i went downstairs flustered to find alejandro on the couch while on his phone.
"hey ale," i smiled walking to the kitchen.
"hey, tate. do you have any food?" he asked walking with me.
"here, have a granola bar. im gonna go grocery shopping with mattia, want to go?" i asked throwing a gronal bar as alejandro and getting a water bottle for myself.
"sure," he plainly said.

we talked for a couple of minutes until mattia came down
and left to the grocery store.
after two hours of mattia and alejandro running around like little kids and getting a bunch of junk food as i tried to get a bunch of healthy foods.

"you guys just had to three bags of chips," i said in disbelief starting the car since mattia and alejandro decided to make tiktoks in the back seat.
"well we have to make the most of the week. plus kairi gets here tomorrow, and he is one hungry little guy," mattia laughed as he scrolled through his phone.
"you guys are annoying. anyways, mattia we are gonna have a dinner with my family tonight. ale, do you want to join or i can let you borrow my car to visit sway house or whatever?" i asked trying my best to focus on the road.
"the car is fine," he responded setting up his phone on
the window.

the rest of the drive consisted of tiktok sounds and the laughter of mater and ale. once we back home, mattia, alejandro, and i managed to get the bags after going to the car three times each. the boys started to put the food in drawers and the refrigerator as i went to go look for my mother's cooking book that was in one of the boxes i brought from the house that i thought my dad wouldnt want.

i found the book with a little bit of dust from being in the
box for years. i swiped my hands over the title put on it.
'tate and mommy's recipes'
i looked through to find the recipe with a picture taken of my mom and i with the plate on our hands. i hugged the book tightly and ran downstairs.

"hey guys," i sniffled setting the book on the counter
and went to the sink to get a went cloth to wipe
the cover of the book.
"whats this?" mattia asked as he went towards the book and began to smile as he saw the title.
"we started to make it when i was five years old. she told me she always wanted me to have a close relationship with my future daughter like i did with her. so we made a book with picture because i was into cooking at the time," i slightly smiled.
"you were one cute baby, tatum!" alejandro exclaimed.

"thank you! anyways, lets get cooking!" i said
clapping my hands.
