Manang, Psyche, Theia, and Christian are already here. 4 pm pa lang pero nandito na ako. I don't want to be late, I don't want to give myself a chance to back out.
I woke up early so I could pack my things and review the ticket. I explained my decision to Manang and it made her sad but she did not try to stop me. I didn't bother to inform Alvido, he's going to be in the past, too, after all.
I even made manang promise me not to tell anyonewhere I'm going. Kagabi raw, no'ng hindi ako umuwi, pumunta si Aaron sa bahay.
Alalang-alala raw ito dahil bigla nalang akong nawala. Naghintay pa nang hanggang hating gabi sa mansion, pero no'ng hindi raw ako dumating ay nagpasya nang umalis.
Nakatingin silang lahat , so I gave them the bravest smile I could come up with.
"It's not like we're not going to see each other again." I decided to lighten up their mood by joking, but it did nothing.
Christian approached me. "You're more than just a talent to me. You're like the sister I never had, Cassi."
"Thank you, Christian. Salamat sa pag-intindi mo sa akin." I was really touched.
"Take care of yourself. Kasi wala na kami ro'n para bantayan ka." Dagdag niya.
Nangingiting tumango ako. Bibitiw na sana siya sa yakap but I held him in place. He knitted his brows.
I leaned into his ear and mumbled, "Ipangako mong pagbalik ko, kayo na ni Thea."
Saka ko lang siya binitiwan. "Promise," he grinned.
Theia and Psyche approached me next. They attacked me with a hug. I could hear Psyche sniffing and I stifled a chuckle.
"I'll miss you. Wala nang bigla nalang susulpot sa condo ko. I want you to go because I want your heart healed, but at the same time gusto kitang pigilan." Theia had tears in her eyes.
"I will always keep in touch with you. Akala niyo ba kakalimutan ko kayo?" Tanong ko kahit parang ayaw ko na ring umalis.
Psyche wiped her tears using the back of her palm. "Cassi, kahit palagi akong busy at huli sa mga nangyayari sa buhay mo, alam mo namang mahal kita." She embraced me again and I returned her hug with the same fervor.
"Importante kayo sa akin." I sniffed. My eyesight was turning a bit blurry and I laughed as I wiped it with my handkerchief.
"'Wag mong pababayaan ang sarili mo."
I nodded. No'ng tumalikod na sila ay si Manang naman ang lumapit. Namumula 'yong mga mata niya.
"Oh, manang," I muttered before wiping it for her. Ako na 'yong yumakap sa kanya at halos hindi na ako makahinga sa higpit ng ganting yakap niya.
She sobbed, and I patted her back to pacify her. Nang magbitiw kami ay hinaplos niya nang masuyo ang mukha ko.
"Mami-miss kita, anak," usal niya.
"Aayusin lang natin yang papeles mo tapos susunod ka na. Hindi ko naman maatim na iwan ka kay Alvido," masinsinang paliwanag ko sa kanya.
Tumango siya at hinalikan ako sa noo. "Hanggang sa muli nating pagkikita."
Pinilit niyang ngumiti and I did the same. I don't know how long I can keep up this facade.
Tinawag na ang flight ko. They looked disheartened, but I bade them my final farewell.
Habang naglalakad ako palayo ay naisip ko ang mga telenovelang napapanood ko. Kung saan ang bidang babae ay aalis. At kapag tinawag na ang flight niya ay hahabulin siya ng bidang lalaki.They would make up and everything would be okay again.
And now, as I take heavy steps, I was half-hoping that Aaron would do the same. I was wishing that he would magically appear and stop me, to tell me that he needs me and our baby. Deep down, I was still wishing that our story would end with a happy ending.
Pero naibigay ko na ang passport ko at lahat, ay wala parin. After a few minutes ay nakasakay na ako sa eroplano.
Dahil nagliliwaliw ang utak ko ay naapakan ko ang paa ng katabi ko. He yelped and I said sorry.
"It's okay, miss." I looked at the guy and was struck by his features. He looked foreign though I could not point out which nationality he resembles. He smiled.
"It's going to be a long flight, and a boring one if you don't have a person to chat with. I'm Raven Andrei, and you?" The guy extended his hand and I shook it.
For the first time today, a genuine smile escaped my lips. "Cassidy."
The name Raven Adrei is a bit mouthful. I guess I'll just call him Drei.
