Isidro’s PoV
~
I went to work early the next day. Agape is still fast asleep and so I chose not to wake her up. She looked peaceful in bed, feels like it would be a sin to disturb her rest.
Office is still quite empty when I arrived. Iilan pa lang ang empleyado dahil maaga pa.
“Good morning, Sir. Café Americano with extra double shot of espresso.”
Lauren, my secretary, came in and handed me my venti cup of coffee. She knows I always have to start the day with my usual coffee order. She handed me pile of papers afterwards.
“For your signature, Sir.”
“Thanks, Lor. Shall we have a run down?”
“Yes, Sir.” She took her folder and ran down my activities for today. Looks like I am having a fully booked day.”
“So, your earliest meeting would be an hour from now, Sir.”
“An hour?” I asked. I sat on my chair and start signing the papers she handed me. I took a glance at my wrist watch. Agape might already be up at this moment.
“Yes, Sir. Do you want to adjust the…”
“Nope. An hour it is.” I said, taking a sip into my coffee.
“Noted, Sir. Anything you will still be needing?”
Umiling ako. My eyes fixed on the documents I am signing.
“I’ll take it from here.”
“See you at the board room after an hour, Sir. Enjoy your coffee.”
“I will. Go grab some breakfast, too.”
“Thank you, Sir.”
I sighed when Lauren left the room. I still have bunch of paper to sign and contracts to review. In less than an hour the series of numerous meeting will keep me occupied the entire day. I grabbed my phone near my pen stand and checked my messages. Nothing from Agape.
I put my phone back on my desk and continue working but I can help being distracted.
Grunting, I grabbed my phone again and messaged Agape. I bought her a new sim card. Ako lang ang contacts nya sa bagong bili kong phone nya.
I messaged her telling her I’d call. It took her ten minutes to reply.
Okay. She replied.
Nice. Ten minutes and all I get is an okay. Regardless, I punched the call button and she picked up after few rings.
“Hey.” I said.
“Hello, Sid.”
I smiled. I was fighting the urge to wake her up earlier so I can just listen to the sound of her voice.
“Is it bad timing? Are you still resting?”
“Hmm, bumangon na po. Kumain ka na ba?”
“Hmm, I’m having coffee already. Sorry I had to leave early for work.”
“Okay lang. Trabaho ‘yan e. Hindi ba ako nakakaabala sa’yo ngayon?”
I stare at the pile of papers on top of my desk, I put the call on speaker mode and put it on my desk so I can multitask.
“Nope. Not at all. Kumain ka na ba?”
“Opo, nagpapahinga na lang. Hmm, Sid? Kumain ka na ba bago po nagkape?”
"Coffee is good."
