Chapter 4: I don't check out guys
"Em, Sam, Izz, let's do Gangnam style on Just Dance," Lauren says while jumping up and down. Everyone is chilling on the couch or around the house, in the kitchen or in the basement. Our beginning-of-year team bonding at Coach Liz's house is always so fun, but when it's at everyone else's house we can actually have the real fun. If you know what I am talking about. But, the plus side is that we get to hang out with her little brothers in college. They sometimes would help out her at some of our practices or do the books during the season at our games.

But what is hilarious to me is that, Sam has had a crush on Joey, the younger one, for the longest time. He is a freshman in college and fairly attractive but he is about 6'6". For 5'4 Sam, she thinks that she is completely perfect for him. But when he has to bend down just to look her in the eye, I can't hold back a laugh. Sam, being the shy type could never have a chance since she never has tried to make a move.

"Fine." I told her, rolling my eyes. The dance turns on and the song vibrates through the house. Me, being a terrible dancer, was attracting a crowd at how I was able to keep the score at a very low amount for almost the entire song. Coach walks in with her other brother mason, to sit by Joey on the couch. By then, the majority of the team was packed in the small room either laughing at how terrible a dancer I am, or how great a dancer Sam was, having the highest score and earning a lot of crowns. Coach let out a belly laugh which made me smile, because I haven't heard her laugh in a long time. When the song is over I bend over trying to catch my breath. This is the exact reason why I chose a less cardio active sport, and chose to read in my free time rather than go to the gym. Sam jumps up and down at her obvious victory. I swear, where the hell does she get all of her energy. She receives an applause and a big smile from Joey. Her whole face turns a bright read and she quickly shuffles away to the kitchen. I follow her.

"How on earth do you do that," I ask nearly out of breath.

"Coffee. I have like three cups a day." She says still trying to recover from her obvious embarrassment.

I notice, "So, still hooked on Joey?"

"Is it that obvious?" She asks worriedly, I nod my head.

"I swear if you don't talk to him I will for you!"

"That's okay. I will." She nods her head, before looking up in confidence, "tonight." She puts her hand in her hips and puffs up her chest in an attempt to look mighty. I look down and laugh at her. It's like she doesn't even realize she is like 5'4".

"Alright everybody. Team meeting." Coach Liz yells from the living room. She always does these, usually with a big speech and a short story from her glory days. Oh brother. Me and Sam walk in taking a seat on the floor everybody else sporadically doing the same.

"As you ladies and boys," she looks at her brothers with a smile, "may know, both Joey and Mason are in college this year leaving a big space to fill on our team for extra help. I was going to take up a manager tryout or sign up but Mr. Thompson came to me directly with someone who needed their own help in order to graduate with their very terrible grades. So, starting Thursday, " tomorrow. "We will be having Weston Andrews as our volleyball manager. He was once on his own team back in Canada, since everywhere but America it's actually considered a men's sport. He was recruited to a national team when he was 15 and was even going to go to the junior olympics. He has worked very hard on his own part of the sport and will be able to help me whip you guys into shape. I have already spoken with Mr. Andrews and he said that he is prepared to work with us and is looking forward to working with the team. Please be welcoming to him and treat him with respect, just as how you would treat my kid brothers or me."
