Chapter 11: I love you little man
My two best friends looked at me baffled. I told them everything. About how Weston has been a bit flirty with me. How I assumed his character. Who he really is. What he did at the club. Both things, that is. Now, Levi and Kennedy stare at me, their mouths hung at their jaws, the early Sunday morning sun strewn on their faces. I sip my coffee avoiding their eyes."I thought you guys had a close relationship." Levi says breaking the silence. He furrowed his eyebrows, looking down in defeat. He had gotten close with him too.
"I thought so too...But, he showed his true colors last night. You guys know how I am with guys. How I don't particularly like Griffin, and guys like him. How I practically trashed all those bad boy cliche books my mom bought me. How I constantly avoid any guy that follows those standards," I pause catching my breath. Kennedy sees my anger and grabs my hand. The gesture instantly controls my emotions. I speak much quieter this time, "I thought he wasn't like that, he would tell me of the books he would read and the days he would spend back at home going on little adventures with his friends. That may be his interior but his exterior is just a reserved, two-timing prick, just like every other guy in this screwed up world." Kennedy rubs circles on the back of my hand she was holding.
When I heard the knock at my door this morning, I already knew who it was. The only friends I have ever had that actually would chase after me when I run. Kennedy and Levi walking in, arms full of coffee and donuts, worried expressions tugged at their fake smiles. I felt terrible making their heads spin at the sight of me leaving last night, all because I'm sensitive and emotional.
Kennedy spoke up ripping me from the downward spiral my thoughts were heading down. "Aurora, I understand that you trusted him and that you thought he was nicer than he really is. We all did. But, be glad you learned early on in the friendship. Before he got too deep into your life. Just forget about him." Her words made sense, so I forced myself to believe them.
I took a deep breath trying to follow her words. My mind attempted to clear but all that filled my cloudy mind was the face of a hazel eyed, curly haired boy that made my heart flutter when I was around him.
Levi could sense my struggle. "How about we do something?" I sent him a fake smile. "Wait what is going on today?" He asked.
"The last day for the county fair is tonight." Kennedy added. My face scrunched up recalling the lousy event that consists of farm animals and only a single ride. The Ferris wheel.
"Ror, you love the fair. It has all of your favorite food."
"Ken, don't you mean I love the food at the fair, not the fair itself." I corrected. But my mouth started to water thinking about the kettle corn and cotton candy I could get.
"Oh come on Ror. We will make it fun for you, I promise." Levi begs holding out his pinky. I sigh and grab his pinky with my own, planting a kiss on my swearing hand. It's a best friend thing.
"What are we gonna do till then?"
"You guys are going down in Mario Kart, that's what." I squeal running into the living room.
Charlie comes sliding into the room and yells, "I call Sonic!" I roll my eyes at my kid brother and pinch him in the side, playfully. "Hey!" He squeals, jumping in the air. My bestfriends and I buck over, roaring in laughter at my brother's voice crack. He crosses his arms across his chest, pouting like a child. When Levi starts to calm down he grabs my brothers shoulder.
