Hey guys, I know, late update. Was having a short bit of writers block. Anyways, I hope you enjoy. A lot of background info was written out in this chapter. Next one is going to be very important so stay tuned :)
Chapter 13: Little Things
I wake up, startled. My face immediately searches for the culprit of waking me from my precious sleep. My eyes meet my little brother Charlie's blue ones. I wish I had his eyes instead of my mother's green ones. He looks just like my dad.Charlie wears a sheepish grin across his face. "Aurora it's parent teacher conference day!" He screams at me, shaking my shoulders. I remember the first term-day, kids get off of going to school. My thoughts quickly turn to anger.
"Then why the hell did you wake me up!" I yell at him, pouncing on his little frame. I tug at his hair and his limbs, occasionally tickling him in places I knew would rip him apart. Charlie sends back jostled slaps and weak punches at my stomach. We wrestle around a bit more until he finally surrenders knowing that his still developing muscles can't handle my full-time-athlete ones.
"I thought you were dead." He speaks up through exhausted breaths. Huh? I cringe at his words the slightest bit. I look at him confused. "It's almost eleven." I grab my phone off of my nightstand. I mean I knew I was tired after getting home from Weston's, but I didn't know I was that tired. I went to bed at like nine. Wait, I slept 13 hours? Charlie saw the surprise in my face and tilted his head to the side.
"I slept 13 hours." I answer his questioning look. He shrugs. That's right, that kid has slept 16 hours before. I forgot.
My brother gets up and walks through our empty house to the living room. I follow. I think about the day, how it is probably going to be a really boring one.
My brother and I would lounge around, watching Netflix and eating massive amounts of junk food. As I near the kitchen I hear a loud clunk sound come from inside. Charlie comes striding out and plops down on the couch next to me, 8 eggo chocolate chip waffles on a plate. He puts the plate between us on the couch and I flicker on the tv to watch the Outer Banks show I have been recently obsessed with.
"So what are we doing today?" Charlie asks a few minutes into the show. I stop stuffing my face to think. But, all I thought about was a lazy day. Before I answer him I am cut off by a vibration coming from my lap. I grab my now lit up iPhone and read the text to myself.
It's from Griffin? He never texts me, sure we exchange a few conversations at school sometimes, but those are filled with the bare minimum of words. I grow curious as to what the annoying kid wants to say.
Griffin>>
-Hey Rory can you meet me in the park today. I really want to talk to you. It's important
My face scrunches up in confusion at his proposal. But, I am still curious so I respond.
Aurora>>
-ok. When?
The reply comes almost instantly.
Griffin>>
-Ten mins?
Are you kidding me. I just got out of bed for Christ sakes.
Aurora>>
-Twenty.
A read Receipt flashes under my text. I glance back at the tv but not before catching my staring brother in my peripherals. I turn to him. "What?"
