Chapter 5: That's a fine piece of man right there.

"Looks like he cares about you more than you think Rory." Sam explains before hanging up.

I turn off my phone and look up at my ceiling deep in thought. There is glow in the dark rubber stars taped up to the ceiling still there from when I was a kid. Their now dull light stares back at me. How could this guy that has become so popular at my school in a matter of days completely ignore everyone but me. What is so special about me? He seemed to talk to me a little bit more than most people but that was only when he was around me. He reads and enjoys music just like me but yet he isn't social. Then why does he dress the way he does, and why does Griffin bow down at his feet like he is this great guy.

I could barely sleep that night, constantly reliving our short yet actually nice conversations. They were so genuine and honestly they were about things I enjoyed rather than stupid drama that other girls like to talk about. That is usually why I surround myself with boys anyway but they still act like immature guys sometimes. Better than drama though.

"Good  afternoon ladies, you girls can call me Wes or Mr. Andrews. But I prefer Wes because I am not my father." Weston announced to the team at practice. The last bit came out with tension in his voice and darkness in his eyes. But nonetheless a few girls laughed.

"Thank you Mr. Andrews, I look forward to this season with you. Alright everyone, line up on either side of the net, blocking drills first. We are gonna get some height to everyone's jumps." Coach said before going over to the side with a clipboard.

Everyone lines up as the curly haired boy walks over to coach on the side. He starts talking to her as the team begins the drill. Weston uses his hands as he explains his thought process, Coach occasionally nodding along to him.

We have been at this drill for what seems like forever. My calves and thighs are killing me from the constant jumping to high-five my partner above the net. Weston just paces back and forth along the line with analytical eyes, watching every girl pant and slow out of exhaustion. Finally he says to stop.

He exchanges a few looks with Coach before continuing. "Since everyone didn't give their all the entire time, I want five sprints across the gym." Groans leave the mouths of a few teammates. "Did I hear ten?"

I shoot him the strongest glare I can muster. We all get on the line and go full speed ahead back and forth across the gym floor. By our ninth lap he yells, "the last five people to make it back here have to do five more." There are only 15 people on our team. I make sure I am not on the bunch and the rest of the girls finish their five laps. I attempt to go get water for the bleachers on the side but Weston puts up a finger. "Not yet." I shoot him another glare before walking back over to the team patting the backs of the last five girls.

Westons looks at Coach and she nods to him before returning back to whatever she is writing on her clipboard. He stares at all of us, his brown curls falling in front of his eyes. He swiftly pushes them back and his eyes meet with mine, a smirk stringing across his lips.

He doesn't break eye contact, "everyone get on the line."  He stands on the other side of the net still doing his annoying pace of authority. "Everyone is going to serve, starting with the worst server to the best ones, captain will go last. Every time someone messes up we start all over... this drill is to ensure every point in our games. If you guys can't simply keep the serve going in, how do you expect to win the game. Make them in the court every mistake is a lap." He smirked before continuing. He's acting like some sadist. "Serve wisely."
