Chapter 8: A great day
Mills school was one of the easiest teams around to beat. Within three sets we had won, with a huge advantage every time. Lacey started out setting and played the majority of the second set too. Coach is definitely breeding her to be our main setter within her next few years, but starting for varsity as a freshman is impressive. For now though, I have Sam with me as my main setter. Once we start to get into the championships at the end of the season Lacey will definitely be benched and back up.

The stands cheered like crazy as always, being completely full of people. There were floods of bodies even standing around the door and in any extra crevice the bleachers had. The red, white and blue vibrantly colored the crowd as they screamed all the way till the last buzzer. It's amazing because I could see our team getting better than they ever had been in years past. With Weston each girl has become their strongest individual. Even though he is hard as crap on us at practice you can tell we are at our best with him. He was screaming on the sidelines the whole game, putting his fist in the air at each one of my kills. Viciously writing on his clipboard when we made mistakes, the same stress line etched on his tan forehead. He sported basketball shorts, a muscle tee and a silly sweatband on his arm. He said it made him look "tough". I couldn't deny that, hell he could wear a trash bag and still make it look good.

At the end of the game we all met for our clipboard talk. But before coach could speak, Weston pulled me a little to the side of our circle.

"Your form was a lot better than a few weeks ago. I'm proud of you Aurora." He gazed in my eyes being totally genuine in his words. He squeezed my hand before letting go and taking a spot next to Coach. I couldn't help but stare at him, still feeling the remnants of his touch on my hand. How could he make my body electrify the way it does.

Coach starts her speech, starting with the bad. Talking about our back row form when getting corner shots, or deep free balls. She spoke of our blocking form and how our timing was off. She ended with explaining our drills that we will be working on in practice. Then she started on the highlights of our game. She pointed out Lacey and her strong setting, then following with Sam and her perfect targeting and dumps. Coach complimented Izzy on her dives and then she finally settled on me.

"Cap, great job with your shots today," she paused to look over at Weston, "I'm seeing major improvement, Stanford is going to see that when they start scouting soon. I'm proud of you kid, keep at it." She smiles really wide and Weston starts a slow clap. Our chant. I start clapping too, rocking back and forth. Everyone joins in and once at full speed I call us out. "Ou! Ou!" My team reply's "Ayee!", everyone throwing their handing in the air.

I walk to the locker rooms laughing, but feel a presence behind me. "Hey Cap," Weston says with a huge grin across his face.

"Hey," I say quizzically at his happy-go-lucky attitude as we start to walk down the steps to the student's locker rooms. "What's up with your face?"

"Nothing, just proud of you..and the girls," my face heats up at how he pointed me out.

"Thanks," I said to him as I walked near the door of the girls' side. Just before I reach the door, I feel a faint touch on my neck.

I hear a whisper in my ear, "and let's just say I'm excited for our party later too." I turn around after I have recovered to my awakened senses. All I see is the door to the boys locker room starting to slowly close. Maybe I'm lightheaded. Cause that couldn't have been real right?
