A/N: I know that the partnerships are a little wack, but I had to rearrange for the purpose of the story.

From what I hear about intelligence, it usually does not take them three days to close a case, so when we finally took these guys down, it was a massive relief for everyone. The bust went exactly as we planned it, Kev snuck Jay and I upstairs where the four of us waited for the knock on the door. When it came, Adam immediately pinned the guy down while Jay, Kev and I ushered all the girls into the stairwell where Burgess was waiting with the rest of the unit. Dawson went to help Adam while Upton and Voight joined us. We all climbed the elevator which took us down to the basement, sure enough, all the remaining girls were there. Kev and Jay quickly took down the two guards while Voight went to find Perez. Hailey and I stayed back and released all the other three girls.

A little while later, the whole unit was back at the district, talking to the girls one by one, when Voight and Olinsky finally come back with Perez, who is a lot bloodier than he was the last time I saw him. Jay catches my concerned glance. "You get used to it," He says in my ear, shrugging his shoulders, "We bring down the worst of the worst, whatever it takes." He walks away, leaving me overthinking his very vague explanation.

That was the first thing Jay has said to me today that didn't involve the bust, including all morning in our hotel room. It's like a switch flipped and I can't pinpoint the problem. I keep reliving the past few days and I don't recall anything that would make him act like this now.If he was going to be so cold, shouldn't he have started when I threw all my problems at him in the first place?

I follow him to the breakroom, where he pours himself another cup of coffee. "Hey. Are you good?" I ask, shutting the door behind me.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He asks, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

I lean against the wall, searching his demeanor for any inconsistencies that could explain his weird mood change, "I don't know, you just seem upset." He just shrugs, heading for the door, but I block his path. "Listen, Jay, I'm sorry if I put you in a bad situation, telling you about my dad and everything last night. I didn't want to put that burden on you and I shouldn't have." I begin to feel guilty, this was my problem and I shouldn't have expected him to help me carry it.

He gaze softens, "Don't apologize. I'm the one that wanted to know. I've got your back, remember?" He says, resting his hand on my arm. "I'm just tired, we had a crazy couple of days." He laughs softly before giving me a reassuring smile and squeezing my arm. "I'm gonna go work on the case report." He walks out the door and I sigh. He's definitely holding something back, but I'm the last person to push someone to spill their guts. I glance at him through the open blinds, I'll get it out of him eventually.

I pour my own cup of coffee before heading back to my desk where Kim is waiting for me. "You have plans tonight?" She asks. I shake my head, leaning on my desk next to her."Well Hailey is coming over for dinner, would you wat to come?"

I give her a bright smile, "I would love to."

She returns my smile, "Great! Just head over after shift. You can follow me?"

I nod enthusiastically, "Sounds like a plan." Kim heads back over to Atwater who is currently explaining to Adam how to pull footage off the cameras, let's just say Adam isn't getting it.

Walking into Kim's apartment after shift, I'm not surprised how clean it is. She seems like a put together person, so why would he home be any different. Hailey walks in not long after me and joins Kim and I at her island. "So I know that I made this sound like a fancy thing, but I was just going to order pizza..." Kim says, looking a little embarrassed. Hailey bursts out laughing, which is followed by Kim and I.
