Summer

Day 9: empty feelings

Yesterday had gone poorly to say the least. once you ran out to the road you walked not far from the school and sat on the side of the road, rethinking what happened. you had such a good day to begin with but all turned sour. sitting there crying you called your mom she luckily picked up and you explained what had just happened . You talked it out and you felt better about yourself and your worth but not about what happened between you and your brother. you felt hurt, as the tears still fell from your face, your mom did agree about what Tooru said was wrong and he had not right to control what you do and who you hang out with but he did have the right to worry and be concerned about you.

But now as you woke up you felt empty, once you came back after being brought in by the other managers they kept you by there side for the rest of the day protecting you. you did eat alone in the kitchen for the two other meals that day not wanting to deal with anyone else. It was nice to see the girls care for you but you couldn't help but to feel out of it.

 as you looked around the room you discover it was empty, the other girls had already left leaving you to sleep in. You listen closely and no sound was coming from the hall way either, it was either breakfast or everyone was already in the gym. you get out of your bed and sit there for a second thinking about should you actually get up, but the hunger of your stomach decided for you. you quickly pull on a sweatshirt and slide on some shoes quietly making your way towards the kitchen to see what was going on. 

as you walk through the halls you notice the dinning hall door slightly open, you peak into the room to see Kenma sitting there alone at a table on his phone an half empty plate of food in front of him.  You slip in the room quietly  and head towards the kitchen. You see the left over food and make yourself a plate and head out to the dinning room and sit across from Kenma startling him a bit.

"Hopefully your okay with me sitting here ?" you ask as he looks up at you. 

"uh yeah its fine, I don't mind" he replies before looking back down at his phone. you begin to eat your food occasionally looking at Kenma as his intensely played his game on his phone. you finish up eating and clean up your spot and clean the kitchen feeling bad as you weren't able to help out with making breakfast earlier. You head back out to the dinning hall and walk over to Kenma.

"are you done with this?, do you want me to take it?" you ask reaching your hand over to his plate.

"i'm done with it but you don't have to take it if you don't want to." he replied looking up at you.

"no its fine its not like i really have something better to do anyways" you say back to him grabbing the plate and take it to the kitchen to clean it. you take your time not trying to rush anything and making sure everything was either put away or prepared to be taken out for lunch. you then walked back out and sat across from Kenma once again.

"not trying to pry or anything but why aren't you in practice with everyone else?" you ask not really expecting for him to reply.

"well we were going to be running and I really didn't want to apart of that so I just said that i didn't eat yet and slipped back off to here to get away, but I didn't think anyone else would  come in here." he tells you.

"yeah I mean I wasn't expecting anyone else to be here either but I mean also nobody woke me up so once i got up i figured this would be the best place to go" you explain in which he nods his head in return before going back to his game with a small smile on his face. After sitting in silence for a while you decide to go back to your room and officially get ready for the day or at least to look semi decent for everyone else.

you change into a pair of gym short and a tank top since it was surprisingly warm today, you put a zip up jacket on top along with putting on a pair of sneakers. walking back out into the hall you quickly tie your hair up slowly make your way towards the gym or to hopefully find another manager to help with things. sadly you made your way to the gym without seeing anyone to help, you were honestly thinking of turning around and going back to the dinning hall to go sit and play games with Kenma. but as you peak in the room your arm was grabbed pulling you in quickly. When you finally look to only see it was Yukie one of Fukurodani's managers.

"im so glad you're up now," she said with a smile as she still held on to your arm dragging you over  to where her team was, "now don't worry (y/n) we've already talked with your coach and because of what happened yesterday he agreed that its best to give you and your brother distance for the next few days so you'll help out with our team and the other teams like Nekoma when they need it !"  you quickly thank her as you feel like a weight had been lifted off your chest, you were so grateful for the other managers taking care of you even though some were first years and you a second year should be the one helping them, but all in all these girls were great people.

You stand with the Fukurodani management watching them practice, you occasionally look down to fiddle with your thumbs since your slightly bored since both Bokuto and Akaashi were on the court so you couldn't talk with them.

"hey! can we have (y/n) now you guys are hogging her over there!" a voice calling over from the other side of the gym catches your attention, when you look its Kuroo and his team waving over to you. Yukie gently pushes you to tell you to go you nod your head to her and jogged over to the Nekoma team on the other side of the gym.

"so what do you guys need?" you asking finally getting to them confused slightly. seeing all the guys looking pretty smug, even coach Nekomata had a glint in his eye that was suspicious. 

"you do know how to play volleyball right (y/n)" Kuroo teases at you tossing a ball your way. you catch it and stare at him with disbelief as hes literally seen you play .

"you already know the answer to that question Kuroo, of course i know how to play why are you even asking such a ridiculous question?" you say back as you toss the volleyball back to him.

"well then its settled." he begins "since we can't seem to find Kenma anywhere (y/n) will fill in until we find him." Kuroo finishes, your jaw drops in disbelief, he cant be serious.
