It's been a few weeks since Mariah asked me to be her girlfriend and things have been great with us. About a week after we made things official I introduced her to Nana Rose and they immediately hit it off something that really surprised me since Nana could be a little standoffish at times but not with Mariah. They enjoyed doing puzzles together after we had dinner. It meant the world to me that my girlfriend didn't mind having my grandma around all the time I know most people wouldn't have been alright with that at all but Mariah was an angel when it came to my situation.

It was finally Friday and I was beyond ready to be able to sleep in and stay up late. This weekend Nana Rose insisted that I stay at Mariah's house to give us some much needed alone time. Mariah never complained about me having to stay home because I didn't like leaving my Nana alone so it meant a lot that for a whole weekend I wouldn't have to worry about staying out too late or even going home at all.

After school, Mariah and I decided to stop off at the store and stock up on snacks and drinks for the weekend. "This is a momentous occasion our first store trip together," Mariah said hugging me from behind as I pushed the buggy into the store. I chuckled "you're a dork baby" we went through the store and got ourselves a lot of snacks, some stuff for breakfast, and a few different drink options. We already knew we would be ordering out for dinner so we didn't even bother grabbing any other actual foods.

After we got all our snacks we went to the necessities and got me a new toothbrush to keep at Mariah's and a few other things she needed for the house. "Need anything else babe?" Mariah asked. I decided to get myself a loofah and some other shower stuff because I already knew I would be spending a lot more time at Mariah's and wanted to be comfortable there. After I got everything Mariah looked at me with a smile on her face. "Now you got everything?" She asked I nodded "why are you smiling at me?" I asked playfully.

"Well, you got shampoo and all that other stuff so that means you plan on this being the first of many weekends spent with me right?" I kissed her cheek and smiled "yep the first of many weekends with you. Nana talked to me and she told me she didn't want me always having to put my life on hold for her. But we'll talk about that more when we get to your place."

Mariah paid for everything much against my protests but caved when I insisted I would be paying for dinner tonight. We put everything in her car and headed towards her house. As we got closer to her house I could sense her getting nervous. I reached across the middle council and grabbed her hand. "What's wrong baby?" She looked at me for a second and sighed.

"I guess I'm just nervous. Look at the house you live in and then there's the house I live in. I live in a trailer park." I kissed the back of her hand. "Don't do that, don't you dare be embarrassed about where you live, you could live in a cardboard box and I wouldn't care. I should be the one that's nervous. For the longest time, I was blinded by some Northside, Southside bullshit that was started by our parents when they were kids. I never questioned it but now I see it's all bullshit and I'm meeting your other friends and the Serpents this weekend so I'm nervous. What if they hate me for all the stupid shit I've said and done?"
