"How have things been with your sister?" My dad asked as I was talking to him on my drive to school. I sighed "she hasn't tried talking to me at all even when she sees me in the hall she completely ignores me. It kind of bothers me but then it doesn't at the same time I mean look at how long she lived here an not once did she ever tell anyone I even existed." I replied pulling up to Dunkin Doughnuts to get me an iced vanilla chai and a doughnut before school I needed a little pick me up.

"I don't know what to say, baby girl maybe you should try talking to your mom about all that stuff. Then she can talk to Veronica and ask what her issue is. I wish I was there to help you out, even more, I'm sorry I'm not there." I hated when he always apologized to me for him being in jail I know the truth, I know he's there for no reason.

"Stop apologizing dad even though you aren't physically here you're always here when I need you most and that's what counts. As far as my mom goes I don't know about her either she's so wrapped up in her work and with Veronica, she forgets she has another kid too. I don't want to play second fiddle to anyone I'm doing good on my own." I pulled up to Dunkin and ordered my drink and two glazed doughnuts. "I don't want to make you upset before school starts so let's change the subject for a while," my dad said and I was grateful he knew when to change subjects like that.

"How are things going with Cheryl? Have you talked more or hung out more?" When my dad said Cheryl's name it instantly lifted my spirits and made me smile like an idiot. "Uh I would say good, we talk all the time. We had our first date already and we kissed even though it was just to hang out and get to know each other type of situation. When we were about to go our separate ways she said it was our first date. But she's super easy to talk to, she's genuinely interested in the things I like which is dope. And she's gorgeous."

My dad chuckled "I'm happy it seems like you found someone who's making you happy right now. If she's captured your attention she definitely has to be special. Just remember not to let anyone get in the way of your happiness baby girl if you like her don't let anyone else influence you to feel any different." Talks like this made me miss my dad so much more than I already did. Whenever we had conversations like this we would usually be sitting at the dining room table with our drawing material out sketching stuff out and eating junk food.

"She definitely makes me happy it's crazy how fast it's happened but it just feels right I don't have a lingering feeling in the back of my mind with her it just feels natural and I like it a lot. But you know me, I won't let anyone get in the way of my happiness. But I'm here at school now pops so I gotta go, I'll be putting some more money on your account and be on the lookout for your mail I sent you some stuff." I hated not being able to talk to my dad for as long as I wanted there was still so much I wanted to tell him but luckily I was able to write him letters to tell him everything.
