That evening, Elena and Lily went to the ball together, since Stefan and Damon didn't know Elena was coming.

Lily was wearing the dress Elijah had given her, and she had curled her hair so that it fell down her shoulders and complimented the neckline of the dress.

Elena was wearing a black and gold ballgown that complimented her tan skin and made her look amazing. Lily knew Damon and Stefan would be drooling all over her.

As they walked in, Lily widened her eyes slightly at the amount of people inside the house.

"They weren't kidding about making a good first impression." Lily commented, causing Elena to nod slightly in agreement.

As Lily glanced around the room, her eyes landed on Elijah, who was looking at her with a small smile tugging at his lips. The moment Elijah saw her in the dress, he couldn't help but stare. He thought she looked incredible, and he was glad he chose red, because it really was her color.

"I'm going to go talk to Elijah, will you be okay?" Lily asked, turning to Elena as she nodded slightly.

"Yeah, I'm going to find Esther." Elena replied, and Lily nodded her head before turning around and heading towards Elijah.

"You look beautiful." Elijah stated, causing her cheeks to heat up. Lily leaned up to press a soft kiss to his cheek, smiling softly.

"Thank you, Elijah." Lily replied, looking up at him as he gazed over her, still in awe of how amazing she looked.

"I don't believe we've met." Lily heard someone speak up, causing her to turn and face the person who spoke. "I'm Kol Mikaelson, Elijah's brother." He introduced himself, grabbing Lily's hand and holding it up to his lips, pressing a small kiss to it.

"Lily Gilbert. It's nice to meet you." She replied, smiling slightly as he widened his eyes in realization. The entire house had heard Klaus and Elijah arguing the night before about how Klaus had threatened Lily's life. Kol, of course, had questions, and Klaus gladly let him know everything that had happened between the two, despite Elijah trying to stop him from doing so.

"Oh, I didn't realize.." Kol trailed off, laughing slightly as he glanced between Elijah and Lily. "Why didn't you say something, brother? I've heard a lot about you in the past twenty four hours. I've been dying to meet the girl my brother is so smitten over." Kol grinned down at Lily, causing her to glance up at Elijah, who was glaring at his brother. Elijah knew Kol was trying to start trouble, and he wasn't having it.

"Kol, that's enough." Elijah cut in, as Kol simply smirked at his brother, holding his hands up in surrender. Kol really did love to get a rise out of his siblings.

"Okay, okay. I'll leave you to it then." Kol replied, smiling down at Lily before walking off, leaving them alone.

"You know, you're hot when you're defensive." Lily turned to face Elijah, watching as he raised his eyebrows slightly. Elijah was surprised at the words that came out of her mouth, but he didn't mind it.

"Is that so?" Elijah asked, grabbing Lily's hand gently as he tugged her towards him, causing her to giggle softly.

"Mhm." Lily replied, looking up into his eyes as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Kol was nice. I like him a lot more than Klaus." Lily commented, causing Elijah to roll his eyes at her.

"Kol can be quite.. repulsive." Elijah stated, causing Lily to smirk softly.

"Don't be jealous, I'm all yours." She replied, causing him to chuckle softly and think back to the night before.
